We arrived at the hospital. Katy and Shawn were rushed to the emergency room. We all sat in the waiting room. Dad called Katy's parents and they came two hours later. I hated her parents. They were never there for her. They were always working and never paid any attention to her. We've became her family and I'm perfectly fine with that. Katy's awesome and she's pretty fun to hang around. I know Shawn likes her. I've had a feeling that he's liked her for some time now. I don't know if he knows himself, but I think they would make a killer couple if they do decide to be together. I've heard them talk about different ideas to get her out of Aiden's life. I want to suggest them go out, but I don't want to push them. A doctor came over to us about four hours after Shawn was brought in, seeing that we were the only one's in this waiting room.

"Mister and Misses Mendes, Shawn's out of surgery. He has a few broken ribs, a mild concussion, a few cuts and bruises and a broken nose."

"What about Katy?" her mom asked.

"She's still in surgery."
"Is there any information that you could give us? Any at all?" her dad asked.

"Her wrist is broken, her jaw's bruised, she has a large amount of alcohol in her blood, as well as drugs. But I don't think that she took these herself. But she is severely dehydrated and her heart has stopped a few times, but we have managed to bring her back. You can go see Shawn. He's in room 283."

With that, the doctor left and Dad, Mom and I headed to Shawn's room. He didn't look to bad, but he was still beat up. His eyes were barely open. Mom took a seat next to him.

"Hey, sweetie." She said softly, holding his hand.

"Hey mom. Is Katy okay?"
"We don't know yet. But I'm sure she'll be just fine."

He nodded and we were all silent. I went back out to the waiting room to see if they came out with any news on Katy. Two hours passed. Her parents were working the whole time. I couldn't believe it. Her parents were working while their daughter could be dying on the table? Unbelievable! But it was starting to get close to another hour when the doctor came back out. I stood up.

"Katy is out of surgery, but she isn't doing too good. She needs to stay here for a while so we can keep an eye on her."

"Can we go see her?"
"Yes. She's in room 282."

"Thank you."

I headed over to her room while her parents were cleaning up their work space. She was hooked up to lots of things, three bags hung on a rack, tubes going to her arms. One of them was a blood packet and the other was a water packet. The last one I wasn't sure what it was. I left her parents to be alone with her and went to Shawn's room. He was asleep.

"How about you and Dad go home? You have school tomorrow." Mom said when she noticed I was back. I nodded. I gave mom a hug and went with dad.

"How's she doing?"

"Not too good. She wont be going home for a while."

"Poor girl. She would be so much better with Shawn."
"You see it too?"
"Of course. He's liked her for a while now. I just wish the two would get over themselves and date. They would be adorable together. Especially since they know each other's boundaries and knows what they both want."

I smiled to myself. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Two weeks later

Shawn's POV

I got released yesterday, but I went to Katy's room. According to Aaliyah, she's been drifting in and out of consciousness. I was just chilling in her room, watching Harry Potter when the heart monitor started going at a faster rate. I stood up, keeping a hand on her hand. Nurses came running into her room.

"What's going on?" I asked them.

"Sir, you need to get out."

"No, not until you tell me what's going on!"
"Shawn, get out of the room!"

"No! What the hell is going on with her?!" I yelled as they pushed me out, closing the door when I was out. I stood there impatiently, waiting for the door to open. When it did, the nurses walked out and I ran back in. She was awake now.

"Shawn?"

"Yeah?"
"Don't leave me."

I shook my head. "I'll never leave you."

I suddenly got a text. I looked at it.

???- hey Shawnie, it's Karly! I was hoping that maybe you want to go out sometime?

I didn't open it. Answering a text from a girl other than Katy was my least concern at the moment.

"Who was that?"
"No one important."

"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. You're the only one I care about right now."

"If it's important you can take it-"
"Katy, it really wasn't important. Take the hint. I'm not leaving your side unless I absolutely have to. Which wont be for a while because I still have a week off of school. And during this week, I want you to get better."
"Wow, demanding much?"

"When it comes to your health, yeah."
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Depends on what it is?"
"What happened to Aiden?"
I breathed in sharply
