His Savior

"Did I just get involuntarily signed up for a surfing battle?" Hoseok frowned, eyes dazed as he hovered on the back porch. He was seated backwards in the chair, propping his arms up on a spine. "Against a biker?"

"Well, yes," Taehyung huffed. "But there's no doubt about who will win."

"That's not the point—" the elder sighed and tugged him closer by the arm. "How did this even happen?"

"He said he bet he could surf, and I told him to just go against you." The artist lied, falling into another one of the patio chairs, shade providing shelter from the blistering heat he'd been called sweaty in just a day ago by the same biker. Taehyung shrugged. "His embarrassment, our entertainment."

"Fair point. When did you guys even meet?" Hoseok frowned. "Was it while you were working?"

"Yeah, actually. He decided to keep me company. His version of annoying me."

Taehyung mindlessly picked at the skin around his nail, recalling the sensation of Jeongguk's arms encompassing him in warmth.

He had convinced himself it was some coincidence just mirroring the way he fell that made it seem similar. Unsurprisingly, it was comforting to think so.

He had told himself to stay an arm's distance away from Jeongguk and the biker having anything to do with his accident would throw that out the window. Surprisingly, he was able to convince himself easily.

His rivalry ego would certainly be crushed knowing that the same man that pissed him off was also the reason for his current living soul.

Then again, he would have found his savior.

His head hurt thinking about it. Torn between the hated leather and the inky birds he dreamed to find.

"Hello? Earth to Tae?"

Fingers snapped in front of eyes, making him jump back in his seat and slump in the aftermath of his thoughts. "Sorry, what were you asking?"

"When's this competition? Why not just do it today? We can get a kick out of a quiet Thursday." The dancer suggested. "Didn't have any plans for the afternoon anyways. The weather is good and windy, too."

Taehyung was hoping for that answer. Especially because he had already told the biker to show up that afternoon.

"Perfect. Let's just enjoy watching him wipe out."

"You're evil, Tae. I love it. The poor guy has no clue what he's doing."

"He knows the basics." Taehyung mumbled.

"Hmm?"

"Mr.Tuan's cookies." The younger rambled out quickly. "I wonder if he bakes them."

"Are you okay?" Hoseok chuckled at the random blurt.

"Perfect." Taehyung sighed, leaning back against the chair and letting his head tip to stare up the balcony above. "Days kinda drag on, 'ya know. I'm just glad you guys are enjoying."

"Sorry, Tae. You know we are here to help you." The elder say his chin on his arms, gazing over at the pleasant boy, hiding his sulking insides. "Mark told me that he offered for you to go with him to the city when he works."

"You talk to him?"

"What do you mean? Of course, I do. You know we are pretty close."

"Yeah, but..."

Don't ask it, don't ask it, don't—

"How close are we to him? How does he even see us?"
