ok so I rewatched Mary Poppins Returns and I absolutely loved that balloon scene in the end.

This will be the only normal story in this book for now

Pale pink petals littered the grass as Grian pranced through the shopping district, a cone of pink candy floss in his hand. Mumbo followed behind, clad with a bright blue vest and a matching hat.

It was the spring fair, something the Hermits held once a year, on the first day of spring, and this year, it was held in the shopping district. Today was a warm, sunny day, and they could hear the thrum of a simple orchestra playing a melody that wafted through the breeze. A table of sweets sat next to a simple ferris wheel, with Iskall and Ren having the time of their lives on it. Flowers and ribbons and streamers decorated the fair with splashes of pink, blue, and yellow.

Stress finished dispensing a cone of cotton candy, which she handed to an impatient Joe. He noticed that his ice cream had begun to drip down his hand. As he quickly caught it, Grian saw orbs floating down from the sky. Bubbles rained down on them as Doc flew by with a huge wand full of soap, as he waved it and produced hundreds of little spheres. One landed on Mumbo's face, to which it exploded in his eyes. Grian giggled.

They continued to wander through the fair, when Grian spotted Tango tending to what seemed to be about a hundred balloons, all a different colour. Grian swiftly made his way to him, Mumbo following behind.

"Grian, Mumbo!" Tango greeted, looking behind him as he finished tying a yellow one.

"Hello, Tango!" said Grian, smiling. Mumbo ran up to them, panting.

"That's... a lot of balloons you got there." Mumbo said, looking up at them in awe.

"Right?" said Tango. "I worked hard on getting each one to be perfect."

"I see." said Grian, brows raised. "How much is one?"

"They're free!"

"Wait, really?"

"Yup. Want one? Pick the one you like the most." said Tango, and he looked to Grian expectedly.

Grian looked up once more, into the colourful wall of balloons. He instantly reached for the yellow one Tango held, wrapping the string around his finger.

At once, he felt the balloon rise. It tugged at his finger, his wrist and his arm, and then his whole body as he was lifted off the ground.

Mumbo stared dumbly as Grian's feet left the grass. The builder instantly smiled, then giggled, then laughed. He swung his legs around, feeling weightless. He danced on air as he began to float upwards.

Mumbo looked to Tango, who was grinning at Grian's shenanigans. He noticed Mumbo, then stepped aside to let him pick. His eyes scanned over the balloons, landing on a red one. He reached up to his toes and wrapped its string around his hand.

The sun warmed Grian's face as he rose up higher. He bit off some cotton candy, feeling the sweet sugary threads melting in his mouth while the breeze cooled his face. He looked around and admired the beautiful view before him. Clouds were white and fluffy and perfect against the blue sky. Cherry blossoms were scattered up over to the horizon, as well as the pink and white and yellow and blue of the spring fair.

He noticed a red balloon approaching him from below. It got closer and closer, and then Mumbo rose to his level, his eyes crinkled from an obvious smile under his moustache. He was holding in laughter, as the two Brits (very slowly) drifted closer together. He lost it, when they collided.

The two of them laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation, but never once became afraid. They were soon joined by Cleo, a pale blue balloon wrapped around her wrist, and then Scar, with a purple one.

They looked to see all of the other Hermits floating upwards with their balloons. Soon, everyone was in the sky. Doc zoomed past them swiftly clutching onto a blue one, X lazily drifted by them hanging onto an orange one, and Stress floated by to greet them with a pink one.

"Oh my god." She breathed, staring out into the world with awe in her eyes. "I never realised how beautiful our world is."

"We never really spend much time suspended in the air to admire the view." said Iskall, carrying a pale orange balloon.

Behind them, Ren was spinning rapidly like a top, his own red balloon trailing behind him. Iskall snorted, and made his way through the air as if he was swimming. It was a sight to see, and surprisingly it worked quite well as the Swede gently eased Ren to stop.

Grian was now very far off the ground, but he did not care that he'd fall. Today was an amazing day. He finished his cotton candy as a cool breeze flew gently over them. He hummed a tune, a melody that seemed to lazily float up with them. His eyes fluttered closed as he smiled, humming some more. Stress joined him, as well as Iskall and Mumbo.

They lingered in the sky for many moments.
