When people are born, they are assigned a soulmate. They have an original song in their head that only them and their soulmate know. 

This was common knowledge that is known to everyone...Kyoko thought as she turned over. She thought changing positions would help her fall asleep better, but that obviously wasn't working. She was always reckless... She didn't have insomnia...rather she always had a lot on her mind. Being a Detective is a very stressful job, after all. 

Her grandfather, Furito, had been gone that night. A famous porn star had been brutally murdered, and he along with other Detective's were called to the scene to investiagte. As Kyoko would say, to "investigate the bodies as they're still fresh."

Kyoko watched the fan spin around and around, hoping she'd soon get bored and fall asleep. However, she wasn't fortunate enough for this. She heard someone pick the lock of the door downstairs. She quietly, and quickly, locked her bedroom door and hid inside her closet. She heard the clicking sound of high heels downstairs, so it couldn't have been her Grandpa. Scaring her more. 

She heard them, likely a female, looking around in the house through the droors. Kyoko choked, could they be here to murder her? The heir to the Kirigiri Detective's? She bit her lip and tried to be quiet. Until... She turned as white as a ghost... The woman downstairs had been humming her song under her breath. 

Kyoko started quietly humming the song back. Then they stopped, however Kyoko kept humming. Then suddenly, Kyoko heard a metal clatter- like a knife- hit against the ground.Kyoko emerged from her hiding spot in her room only to find a man all in black, holding a woman...

Celeste????

 By the back of her neck.  

Kyoko was puzzled until Celestia, the one wincing in pain, started humming her song back. Kyoko's heart sank as the man in black pulled out a gun.

Kyoko looked deep, heart-wrenched, into Celestia's eyes- as a sort of farewell- when she suddenly hear a pop and fall. She didn't feel it until she hit the ground. Kyoko was feeling the burning of a thousand stars inside of her.. She knew it was all over. She then closed her eyes, smiling, remembering the beautiful face of her soulmate.
