In that moment, everyone simultaneously went over to their phones and ended the livestream, except I didn't. I started having a panic attack.
I didn't know if my parents would still love me if they knew the real me. I just outed myself to my friends, and that's not even bad. I could tell my parents what happened, or I could just let them find out through comments and posts. Being not-straight isn't even the worst of my problems, not that I specifically consider it a problem. I think I told you this earlier, but I still won't tell you what's worse. That you'll have to wait to find out.
This could lose our family's money. We'd lose some fans, meaning views, but if they leave because of something you can't control, they weren't your true fans in the first place.
There's just too many variables right now.
I began to slowly push away my thoughts and I realized that most of my friends were on the opposite side of the room talking, but Annie and Anna were helping me calm down. It actually annoyed me quite a bit that they were near me, but they don't know that I can ground myself.
Their voices began to flood my ears.
"Nova, you good now?" Annie asked me.
I nodded my head and shakily breathed out. I took off my glasses and wiped my eyes, then put them back on and moved a stray piece of hair behind my ear.
"I guess I'll explain," I said, sighing again.
My friends that had been across the room came back over. The only ones I really felt like explaining myself to were Annie, Lilia, and Anna, but I didn't feel like I had a choice not to explain it to the others.
"I had a friend in seventh grade. That year was a super confusing time for me. I had had multiple crushes on different people in the same year, many of which confused me because I didn't know the person. Well, I did know this person. Her name was Sabrina. In the summer before eighth grade, I started falling for her. I knew I liked guys and girls, but I didn't have a preference, and I'll date anyone, I don't care what their gender is.
"In around August, we kinda started flirting with each other, and then she asked me out, which I said yes to. The problem is, I have a fear of dating, so when we went to the movies together, my anxiety was pretty high. I did have a good time though. I slept over at her place after. I was in the guest room when I went to sleep, but somehow we both ended up in her room when we woke up—but don't worry, nothing happened. Her house had little security cameras in it though, and when we checked to make sure nothing went on, we discovered on tape that we had made out in our sleep, so watching that was a bit awkward. We deleted the footage so her parents wouldn't see, but after that she asked me that since neither of us would remember our first kiss, we might as well remember the second. We kissed, but it was a short and sweet one."
Lilia smiled. "Aww, that's so sweet."
I smiled back.
"Well, I'm glad you're you," Annie hugged me.
All our friends came over and group-hugged me.
"Thanks guys," I smiled.
"Now, do you want to wait for our parents to find out, or tell them now?" Annie asked me.
"I feel like it'll go better if they hear it from me," I said.
Annie nodded in agreement. Annie left our room and went to the kitchen, where our parents were most likely to be. I went to get Hayley. She deserved to know at the same time as the rest of our family.
I knocked on the door to her room and opened it. We had some of her friends come over so she wouldn't feel left out. When I opened the door, Txu, Piper, and Coco all turned their heads, in addition to Hayley.
"Hay, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked.
"Uhh, okay," she said, obviously a bit worried and confused.
"Don't worry, you didn't do anything," I whispered to her as she passed me in the doorway.
She followed me to the living room, where our parents were already seated on the couch.
"Okay, so, please don't get mad at me, but we were playing truth or dare and Jayden dared me to admit a secret, and I said that I've had my first kiss already. A few people asked me to spill the tea, and I told them that they didn't know her, the person who I kissed. Then I realized what I'd said and had a panic attack about it, and I came out. Anyway, I'm pan, so I hope you're chill with that," I explained.
"Of course we are! Why are you so nervous?" Mom asked.
I realized that I was shaking a little bit and my heart was pounding.
"Because we were live-streaming the whole thing up until everyone realized what I'd said," I said.
Dad slightly sighed.
"You know what? That's fine. It'll just get rid of the haters. You'll need to clear everything up with the fans though," mom said, and dad nodded.
"Okay," I said.
My parents got up and hugged me.
"We still love you, and this doesn't change anything," dad said.
"Thanks," I smiled.
"I mean, I'm not that surprised. I've seen the way you look at Anna," mom told me.
"Mom! Stop!" I gasped and felt myself start blushing.
My sisters nor my dad heard what mom had said, luckily.
Annie and I started to leave. Hayley tapped my shoulder.
"What's pan mean?" She asked.
On the way back to her room, I explained that it just meant I'd date anyone, it didn't really matter who.
Annie and I got back to our room. I picked up my phone and went back onto Instagram. As I expected, I had tons of comments, tagged photos, and DMs asking for explanations, and rumors floated all over my explore page. I was going to just explain everything on my story, but I decided to just post a photo I'd been wanting to post. I'd explain myself in the description, then change the caption later.
