Gwen felt a shiver run through her body, as an electrifying feeling of adrenaline pumped her senses. Wind sliced through her fingers as she grabbed at the empty space, but nothing could help her fall. There was nothing to web onto, no one to save her from falling.

Her heart dashed around in her chest, a warmth of fear flushed her cheeks while a tingle of anxiety and sense dominated her thoughts. The air came at such a fast rate, it was suffocating her.

Bright radiant colours swirled in shapes around her, far away webs carrying memories and universes intimidated her. It hurt. Everything was too much.
The stars that seemed to twinkle in the distance flashed every while with a blinding light that made her head throb.

Gwen was spiralling in the Multi-verse and she couldn't stop. There was no one to help her. No one to tell her that it was okay. No Peter to help comfort her, no Miles to joke around with, no Peni or her smarts, no one. No one. They were probably at home, relaxing and already in their own universe. Unaware of the fear that she's feeling. Unaware of how she's not able to find her breath in this space, unaware, unable, helpless.

Gwen spun faster, a strangled cry came from her crackly throat. Frickin' frack, she was spiralling out of control. She shut her eyes tight, face scrunched up in a painful expression. Each second, hell, each millisecond Gwen fell deeper into the verse until

Zwuuuup!

And like that, everything stopped.
She could feel something steady under her butt, something her hands clutched to. She wasn't spinning, and her heartbeat that banged upon her ribcages had ceased to only a steady beat. She could breathe again. Each breathe like an angel entering her body, only to exit her lungs. Gwen could breathe. Holy ship.

Gwen's face relaxed, eyes still closed but with a more relieved expression. She blinked, opening her eyes.

She was... in her kitchen. Sitting on a chair.

Familiar and saffron coloured countertops made her face brighten softly with a smile. The aroma of coffee filled her nose, and...home. It smelled like home. Sincerity and affection seemed to linger here, with underlying emotions of mourning was thin in the air.

Gwen was home.

But she was still in her suit.

Ugh, fuuuuuuuuuuuuu—

Gwen sighed heavily, pushing herself from the chair with sore arms. Her head felt light, and she felt faint. That probably wasn't good. But then again, neither was traveling through the Multi-verse full of spider-people to accidentally make a friend in another universe who she'll never see again.

Stumbling, Gwen reached the staircase. She fell to a sitting position on the stairs, glancing up at the second floor. Jeez, when did all those stairs appear? She never noticed how many soft carpeted stairs there were until now. Probably because she always entered roughly through her window.

Groaning, Gwen laid her head back. She stared at the ceiling.

She might never see Miles again. Or Peni, or Ham, or Noir, or Peter. God, it felt amazing to know that she wasn't alone. It felt exhilarating to chat with them, especially Ham. Talking about Cartoon Logic and what hotdogs were made of in his universe lead up to some seriously disturbing but hilarious conversations that made Gwen belly-laugh.

Miles. Eyes as bright as the sun, his personality seemed to radiate an assured and fun presence. She, when taking a memory-selfie (as Miles called it) had caught a glimpse of his sketchbook. Bubble letters, drawings of Voltron, scribbles of spiders and many professional drawings of people.

She smiled, recalling the last shared memory of them. His smile never wavered when she jumped off, as if it was to tell her that 'we'll see each other again.' That was comforting. He was comforting. He was Miles, he naturally relaxed others with his easy going. He could also accidentally shave a hand print into your hair.

Gwen glanced up the stairs, and jumped up.

"I just traveled through the multiverse and battled multiple enemies of mine, so I am not about to let some simple stairs be the thing that makes my dad find out." Gwen pointed her finger at the second flight of stairs, her face twisted into an annoyed scowl.

She stomped quietly but ferociously up the stairs. Her legs ached, begging her to sit down. But she wouldn't. She couldn't let some stupid bunch of expensive but incredibly comfortable stairs make her father see her after work. Especially when she looked like she went on the world's most amazing roller coaster sixty times and fell off.

Determination glowed in her eyes, she could just see the last few steps. Gwen could feel the silky quilt that laid on her bed. She could feel the sensation of her body slowly sinking into her foam, spongy bed in clean pyjamas.

Finally, she reached the end. Her foot creaked on the wooden floorboards of the second area of the house. She smiled in relief. Her other foot was just reaching the point where she could jump into her bedroom but it never made it.

It slipped. Her foot going to swift on the furry stairs, making her trip.

Gwen fell backwards.

Wall.

Gwen went spiralling down the stairs, diving headfirst.

Watch out for the wall.

Gwen's spider sense tingled, a seizing shiver trailed up her spine.

Jump. Jump. Jump. Jump.

Gwen tumbled, but stuck her hand to a wall, just in time to save herself from ramming headfirst into the wall that was a pivot and a mistake in the stairs blueprints. Her hands trembled, her breath was shaky. Gwen growled, she was in a band. She was badass. She could take on these stairs. Hell, she bet she could beat the softness out of them if she could.

She hung on to the rail beside her, and nearly flung herself up the stairs. Nearly tearing a few walls, floorboards and other objects, Gwen finally reached her room.

And her phone, thank God.
