The Key

"OUCH!!!!!" I yelled a little too loud. "Tina, are you okay?" asked my mom.

"Yeah," I said, looking down at the sand. I picked up the key that had poked me.

"Mom!! Look what I found!" I told her, hoping she would hear me

Since she was in the ocean. "That's neat, honey." she replied smiling.

I smiled back, happy in her agreement. I showed it to my

dad, and he had no reaction. He is such a crab,

I thought to myself.

'815,' that is what the key had said. Most likely the key to the hotel next door.

I kept it anyways, just for a keepsake.

This was my last day in Florida, so I decided to

spend it in the sun and by the water. I sat down on the

wet sand and stretched my toes out so they would touch the

waves as they reached shore. I was holding the old rusted key in my hand.

I let the sun hit my already tanned skin, I didn't mind the freezing

salt water.

Right then, I knew something was going to change me,

forever.
