Tony was impatiently tapping his pencil in a rhythmic beat against his desk as he watched the clock tick by slowly. He was waiting for the last bell of the day to ring so he could meet with Steve for their study date.
Tony smiled like an idiot when he remembered how Steve referred to it as a date. He could feel his face get pink as he thought back on yesterday. Tony knew that Steve didn't mean it as an actual date, the words probably just didn't come out right.
Still, Tony couldn't get Steve out of his mind. He almost found it annoying. He replayed their conversation over and over again in his head. Thinking about what he could have said better and what he could've done to impress Steve.
Steve didn't seem like the type of guy to get impressed with material things to Tony. He seemed more like the guy to appreciate creative intelligence. That's why Tony spent all night becoming an art expert. Was it the best idea in the world to pull an all-nighter before having a date. Probably not. But at least he could show off his newly found expertise in art to Steve.

Once the bell rang, Tony zipped out of the class to the school's football arena where he planned to meet Steve under the bleachers. Tony thought it was a little cheesy to meet under the bleachers but he still found the small gesture quite cute.
Steve was already present under the bleachers before Tony. He had study hall for his last period that day and decided to leave about five minutes before it ended to make sure Tony didn't have to wait for him. Since he got there early and didn't have any homework or projects due, he decided to continue his drawing. Although it wasn't really continuing, it was more like him trying to overcome his art block and failing.
Steve was so engrossed in overcoming his art block that he didn't realize that Tony was there, watching him talk to himself and erase his paper in frustration.
Steve was very agitated at this point, so frustrated that he ripped out the piece of paper that had been drawn on, erased, drawn on, erased, drawn on, erased, and been viciously scribbled on, crumpled it up into a ball and threw it on the ground.
"Woah there, big guy," Tony said, earning the attention from the now embarrassed blonde. "What did the paper do to you?" Tony lightly teased the blonde who was embarrassed that Tony had seen his temper tantrum.
"Sorry, you had to see that," Steve said bashfully and he picked up the crumpled piece of paper and threw it into the trash can nearby.
Tony nodded. "What do you usually draw?"
Steve picked up his sketchbook and carefully placed it into his bookbag. "I don't really know, my friends, say I only draw 'things that are important to me', whatever that means." Steve put his book bag over his shoulder and faced the shorter brunette. "You ready? There's this quiet, little cafe a couple of blocks down we can go to. It has great milkshakes." Steve said as he clenched his right fist, a nervous habit he picked up in football.
The football coach at Avengers High, although one of the best in the country, were borderline abusive. Steve couldn't remember how many times they practiced in 110-degree weather, or how many times kids passed out or threw up during practice. The coach was especially hard on Steve. Coach always blamed his harshness towards Steve on how he always wastes his time on his, so called, "stupid" drawings. Steve had thought about quitting multiple times, but Bucky had always convinced him not to. Bucky could always convince Steve to do whatever he wanted. Well, actually, really anyone could. All they would have to do is ask nicely. That's probably the only reason he went out with Peggy. She spent so much time and effort into creating the perfect scene to ask him out that he felt there was no possible way to say no.
Tony smiled. A true smile. Not the ones that he gives any random hook up. "Yeah, let's go there! I love milkshakes." He said as he practically jumped up and down in an excited manner.
Steve let out a small laugh seeing the guy he thought was supposed to be Mr. Cool being so excited over something so simple like a milkshake. Steve liked this side of Tony when he was carefree and a bit childish. "Buck lent me his motorcycle, so we can take that to get there."
Tony gave Steve a confused look. "Bucky? As in Bucky Barnes?" Tony asked in a shocked tone.
"Yeah, you know him?" Although Bucky and Steve were best friends, they really didn't hang out with each other during school. School to Bucky wasn't a socialization place. It was a place to learn and play football. That was it. Plus, Steve and Bucky were in different cliques. Steve was categorized as a Jock, even though he classified himself as an art nerd and Bucky was known as the lone wolf, which makes Steve crack up whenever someone refers to him as "the lone wolf".
"Not really. I've just heard rumors about him." Tony shrugged. "I'm not sure if I believe them but he sure seems interesting. He would make a great ninja." He joked which made them both laugh.
Once Steve caught his breath, he responded back to Tony. "Bucky's a good guy, just a bit misunderstood. Even by himself."
Tony nodded. Maybe he and Bucky would get along. They seem so similar but also the exact opposite.
"We should get going before it gets dark, the bike's this way." Steve gestured towards the parking lot.
Steve and Tony walked to the parking lot in comfortable silence which was a huge breather for Tony. Due to his father being quite well-known, he had to make a lot of small talk with his father's business partners and their children which he hated.
Tony liked this comfortable silence between them, he felt as if Steve didn't expect anything of him, which was a nice change for Tony.
Steve pulled Bucky's keys out of his pocket as he got on the motorcycle like a pro even though this was probably only his second time getting on it. Tony, however, was having a more difficult time. Because of his shorter legs, it made it harder for him to put one leg over the bike, which of course, made Steve laugh a bit which Tony responded to with a light, playful punch in the arm, to which Steve laughed even more so because of how little it hurt.
Once Tony finally got himself situated on the bike, he really didn't know what to do with his hands. Was he supposed to put his arms around Steve's waist as those girls did in those cheesy romance movies or since they were both guys did he put his hands somewhere else?
Steve knew what was going through the other male's head so he took this as his time to do a little flirting. "Here," he said as he took Tony's smaller hands into his own and wrapped them around his waist. The only problem, not really for Steve, was that Tony's could just barely comfortably hold on to Steve so he had to lean on him so now he really looked like a cheesy romance cliche.
"Ready?" Steve asked, peering over his shoulder to try and look at Tony which he couldn't. Tony simply nodded his head into Steve's mid-back, trying to hide his slight blush. "Alright." The engine gave a loud roar before Steve and Tony headed off into the direction of the cafe.
