UNEDITED

A night had already passed by the time Huang Jin returned from his night exploration ahead of the team, and it was currently the sixth day since the meteor shower.

From the beginning of their trek, Feng Xinya had been leading the group in a relatively straight line towards the outskirts in order to route a stable road in and out of the city for a variety of uses including but not limited to possible trade, evacuation, and exploratory purposes. This was also another request handed down to him by Wang Sheng that he had agreed to do in passing.

Thus, it wasn't very hard for Huang Jin to find his team to regroup with, as all he had to do was backtrack. That, in addition to the rowdiness of the group distinctive from the eerily quiet surroundings.

"Hissss—Zheng, surnamed Wen! Lighter! Don't you know a man's leg must be kept! Especially that one—AHHHH! Okay, okay, I'll shut up! Just be lighter, okay? Please?"

Huang Jin's steps paused for a few seconds away from the group in hesitation due to the seemingly ambiguous words of one of his comrades, but immediately continued forward when he thought about how shameless their telepath was.

In fact, Chen Jing was open about his sexuality but never went overboard with his expressions. At least, towards his superiors he had limits that he adhered to. Wen Zheng, of whom possessed the most delicate physical features in the group, unfortunately fell prey to Chen Jing's harassment even whilst the superiors were around.

Huang Jin didn't mind Chen Jing's orientation because it wasn't his first time seeing homosexuality within the troops. Moreover, it was the end of the world and homosexuality was the least of the world's concerns.

On the other hand, Wen Zheng was borderline homophobic simply due to the fact that he always fell prey to the pursuit of the men around him. Didn't they understand that he was a man! He wanted to bed women, not to be bedded by a man! And, if he were to be with a man, he felt that as a man he'd have to be the one doing the bedding and not the other way around!

Sima Lei was never the type to judge others by their personality or quirks. He only cared about results and responsibility. Therefore, as long as Chen Jing did his job well, Feng Xinya didn't bother paying much attention to his antics.

And so, the blonde lieutenant found himself faced with such a scene:

Their glorious Major General Sima Lei was standing above a corpse of a level 4 zombie, digging out the crystal core leisurely with his sword. If one looked closer, they could tell that the man had been at it for a long time and was probably just poking around at this point rather than digging out the core.

On the other hand, Wen Zheng was crouched down tending to a medium-sized bloody wound on Chen Jing's calf. It didn't look much like a zombie bite as it did a gash from having been impaled by something. However, that wasn't enough to relieve Huang Jin of the situation. After all, zombies have been reported to be able to infect their victims by their abilities, and not just a simple bite or scratch.

But seeing as his Major General didn't seem to be too concerned about Chen Jing, Huang Jin rested his concerns.

In fact, just looking at the atmosphere in the group could reveal that nothing was particularly serious. Especially Chen Jing, that brat. Wen Zheng seemed as if he was on the verge of blowing up if he weren't curing the virus from the former's leg.

Chen Jing's antics came to a sudden halt, only to find that the rest of his teammates had already focused their attention towards a certain direction—with their enhanced senses, they could hear what sounded like a battle between roaring zombies and a relatively large group of armed humans.
