This could've been better, but they wouldn't prefer it in any other way.

It started off with Charming Gold drugging the Soul Tree, to gain his immortal beauty.

Now, they were fighting Ulcus.

Seven teens, trying to stop the mighty creator of the Earth.

Wouldn't it have been fitting if they were at least emotionally stable? And not filled with doubt?

Turns out not.

As Gai entered the chamber with his fellow contestants who were not expecting this, he felt an urge to go into the same room as him.

Protect him maybe.

Or just being protected.

Liu looked back at Gai, wondering and wishing the same thing.

When each contestant touched the staff, their fears, regrets and negative thoughts took a physical yet emotional form.

Liu thought long and hard.

Was he really a hero?

Was he really a leader?

The reflection of his negativity reminded him of every mistake.

Every moment he could've gotten closer to Gai, but shrugged it off as being friends is easier.

Whose heart shall I break today?

Whose love should I ignore today?

Which feeling should I avoid today?

Gai was already being pressured by his family, his tribe, and Charming Gold.

A little more ignorance of his feelings could've destroyed him.

But Gai remained strong.

Unlike him.

He was weak and ignorant.

And he knew it.

If only he knew his troubles from the start, Liu could've learned to love and not avoid.

If only he was a decent person from the start, maybe this wouldn't have happened.

Gai had the same track of thoughts.

What would've happened if he told his family he didn't want this?

What would've happened if he quit Charming Gold's plan the moment he realized what it was for?

Something better than this.

Man X haunts him, as he hurt his friends.

He shouldn't have lied.

The exact reason Liu ignores his feelings.

He's a filthy spy and a liar.

It was obvious why Miyo rejected him.

Who would want love from a liar?

Who would even trust a liar?

Liu did, but Gai told himself that it was as a friend.

He could've told himself the truth. The truth that his trust, was the affection he wanted, from him.

But he lied to everyone. Including himself.

The pressure and the lies told to him, and told by him.

Maybe he really needed that love.

What would Liu say?

What would Gai think?

To believe in yourself.

Even if no one does.

You deserve all the chances you got.

You deserve all the love you got.

Just don't ignore that small voice that tells you that.

Ignore the voice that tells you you're worthless.

That voice is an illusion caused by yourself.

He still cares for you.

He still wants your affection.

Liu's negative thoughts that were taking over cleared.

Man X didn't haunt Gai's mind anymore.

No more lies, no more blocked feelings.

They do deserve the love they offer and receive.

They made eye contact. Seeing each other, they re-offered each other the love they ignored and lied about.

Before they could reach for each other, Ulcus interrupted them, attacking another piece of the world. They made a small promise to stay alive for each other.

As the others placed their staffs, it was Gai's turn. He was left with Miyo, but this time it was platonic. They protected each other as friends.

They may look like a perfect couple. Working in unison, both very skilled but they found nothing but platonic love in each other.

Everyone helped Pala insert his object, only to see it was the fake. The fake object radiated a beam of red light instead of blue, freeing Ulcus and killing Pala.

They ran, not believing what happened. If Gai and Liu could fulfill their promises to each other, it would be a miracle now, as there are multiple red beams and Ulcus is deadly.

Liu witnessed Gai fall into one of the beams.

It hurt.

So much.

He felt the pain of losing someone he loved again.

Tears threatened to spill as Kuga barely caught Miyo from falling as well.

Kuga and Miyo got on the ground, only to be stepped on by Ulcus.

Lonky fell into one of the beams, leaving only Liu and Popo.

Liu lay beneath the broken remains of the buildings, thoughts of the broken promise and the death of his friends filled his head.

How unfortunate.

Pathetic and unfortunate.

Popo rewinded time, Liu found himself at the time where Pala was going to insert the fake object.

He stopped him in time, and inserting Pala's staff.

Popo turned into a baby, he sacrificed his age to save them.

Again, Ulcus stopped them from reaching each other, transporting them inside of him.
