You throw your head back in laughter as you watched your 'siblings' dance to the music from Luther's record player.
Luther was a mess, his hands raising into fist bumps once in awhile before he'd accidentally knock something over. Diego let the music carry him, moving his body in whatever direction it wanted, but somehow managing to look like the better dancer. Vanya awkwardly moved her arms, the occasional footwork coming into play. Allison was more put together, her confidence showing as she vogued. And Klaus, well he was being Klaus. A bit all over the place, never being able to stick to a single dance move or beat, but in your opinion, he still moved beautifully.
You had grown extremely close to him over the years and there was undoubtedly a connection between the both of you, but you weren't sure what kind of connection it was.
Klaus was always different, to say the least, from you and the rest of the academy kids. He wasn't exactly masculine like the rest of the boys, yet he wasn't completely feminine either. He'd try on Allison's skirts, borrow your nail polish, wear his towel over his chest, but then he'd have this boyish charm about him. He confused you, but that's what drew you to him in the first place.
"Hey gorgeous," Klaus smiled widely as he noticed your stare, holding his hand out for you, "care to dance?" You nodded, happily taking it and letting him lead you in a sloppy, but somewhat slow paced dance. His hand held yours as his other rested on your lower back, pulling you into him as he swayed you back and forth. You smiled up at Klaus, admiring the crinkle of his eyes as he laughed at everyone's actions, and the way his brown orbs twinkled under the kitchen lights. The teen looked down at you, his head dipping slightly so your faces were close. "Can we talk?" You nodded, removing your hands from him and allowing him to guide you away from the group.
Klaus' hand stayed glued to your back, letting you to feel the slight twitch of his fingers everytime he grew hesitant or nervous and wanted to pull away. You could tell he was nervous, and unlike the Klaus you've come to love, he didn't attempt to conceal it with jokes or compliments.
"What's up Klaus?" You question, turning to facing him as you he leaned over to open his bedroom door.
"Uh just sit down okay," he nodded towards his bed, his mind obviously somewhere else as he began to pace back and forth. You complied, taking a seat at the edge of the bed as you watched him. "I - uh- so the other night I was at this rave and - um- I got really high and - well you see," Klaus rambled, playing with his fingers before finally looking at you, "I lost my virginity."
"Oh," your stomach churched at his words, the reality sinking in that your mind had cruelly fabricated a romantic connection you thought you had. The situation was clearly platonic and you cursed at yourself for wanting more out of your friendship.
"To a guy," he finished, taking a hesitant seat next to you.
"Oh," you repeated in more of a questioning tone as you stared at your guys' knees as they bumped against one another.
"But, I'm not gay if you were wondering," you looked at him, sending him a confused expression. You had grown up sheltered, only vaguely aware of anything between gay and straight. "I just, I don't know what I am if I'm honest. I had a lot of fun with him, but then there's you, and you're just- you're everything," your eyes widened. You. You were a possibility for him, and he had just openly admitted that.
"Oh," is pretty much all you could say at this point, unable to put a finger on how you were feeling. You were happy of course, confused, proud of him, maybe even upset that you weren't his first, and you had no idea and to project those feelings into words, "I - thank you for sharing?" Your face flushed as your response, wanting nothing more than to take it back, "I mean uh-"
The teen broke out into a smile, a breath laugh slipping passed his lips as he embraced you in a hug. "I really like you a lot, and you're such a good friend to me, so please don't let this change us. At least not for the worst," Klaus held you tight, nuzzling himself into the crook of your neck. You nodded, wrapping your arms around him securely as he spoke once again, "In my mind, we were always a something and I feel like I cheated and I'm so sorry if you feel that way too."
Laughing, you gave him a small squeeze be assuring, "If you're asking if I'm mad, I'm not."
Klaus pulled back just enough to see your face, a lopsided smile gracing his lips before he kissed your cheek and mumbled, "Good."
