Shattered Dream

Nightmare shot Error a confused look, why would Ink consider him as a friend ? Weren't they actually the exact opposites ? Error was quick to explain, since he didn't want to be considered as a traitor. He would never see Nightmare as a traitor though, who was he even supposed to betray ? And it was obvious from the start that he didn't really want to kill Dream. If he did, he could've just shattered him while he was a statue, since, even if the last golden apple would be lost that way, there would have been no one else able to harm him with the positive twin gone.
" NO, wE're nOt fRieNds. YoU weRe tRyiNg tO kiLl mE tEn mInUtEs agO. WHy wOuLd I cOnSidEr yOu aS a frIeNd ? I'lL aDmiT, I dOn't haVe maNy fRieNds,  bUt I wOulDn't coNsidEr yOu aS onE, eVeN if yOu beGgeD me tO do sO. " , he explained rather rude, calming down the goopy skeletons.
" Would you rather... die than be my friend ? " , the Creator asked, his eyelights changing into question marks. Dream was definitely shocked at this question, especially at the completely emotionless tone. Somebody once told him that Ink might be great as a friend,  but if you were his enemy, he showed his true colours. They did wear a cloak, so he couldn't say who they were, but they sounded as if they had learned this the hard way. But even if he was corrupted now, he didn't completely lose his personality and memories  or something, so he went to stop the argument : " Can we not fight, please ? I'm sure that there is a peaceful solution.  " , saying this, he realised something. If he didn't change due to the corruption, did Nightmare  ? He thought back to all the times he called him an emotionless demon, guilt panging through his soul. Nightmare noticed this, and immediately went to comfort the little guardian, confusing everyone else in the process.
" Uh, NiGhtMaRe ? I kNow tHaT yOu reAllY miSsed yoUr bRotHer aNd alL, buT nOw iS noT tHe tiMe tO cuDdlE. .. " , this sentence caused a different emotion in each other Sans, from embarrassment to shock. While Nightmare was embarrassed since he was ruining his reputation as the King of Darkness, Ink and Blue were shocked about the fact that Nightmare actually cared.
Dream, however,  was a whole different story. His brother missed him all the time ? He realised that he never lost his brother, but abandoned him instead, just because he looked and sounded different. He felt even more guilty now, completely dropping his usual positive attitude.  " Ink ? You said that it wasn't possible to bring my brother back. In a way, you were right. " , the others were shocked about his words, but Dream continued anyway.  " Because, if you want to bring someone back, you would have to lose them first. "
