(Kinda old now, It's okish I think.
Human AU, angst, also I didn't do Bubble's accent w h o o p s)
Fanny hated the hospital room. It was way too bright, and too cold for her taste. But she knew she wasn't going to leave this room alive.
Fanny had been sick for the past year. She had only been in the hospital for a week. It was too late for her to get any better, but the doctors had tried the best they could.
Fanny knew today would be her last, so she asked to see Bubble. She knew Bubble wouldn't take this well, but Fanny hated the thought of leaving her without saying goodbye.
Bubble walked into the room and sat beside her. She was almost crying. But not yet. That would come later. The two engaged in slight small talk, reminiscing on memories they shared.
"Hey, do you remember when we first met?" Fanny suddenly asked.
"Yeah, on the park bench," Bubble thought a second, trying to remember the first words she spoke to her. "I-it's a nice day today, isn't it?"
"Yeah. I hate it." Fanny replied, laughing slightly before breaking out into coughs.
Bubble smiled worriedly before continuing the memory. "Why?"
"Because everything deserves hate. It's how we recognize flaws."
"Do I deserve hate?"
Fanny looked intently at Bubble, and Bubble remembered noticing her navy blue eyes shine into her soul.
Fanny's eyes didn't shine like that anymore.
"Probably." Fanny had left after that. It certainly wasn't the last time they had encountered each other, however.
Bubble continued to search through her thoughts, before being interrupted by Fanny going into a coughing fit.
Bubble became immediately worried. "A-are you ok?"
Fanny shakily put her hand on top of Bubble's. "B-Bubble I-" Fanny coughed again. "... I don't think I'm gonna last much longer..."
There was silence for a few minutes, only interrupted by Fanny's occasional coughing fits. Bubble suddenly thought of another memory.
"Fanny... Do you think I'll ever really mean anything?"
Fanny knew exactly what she was quoting. Their first kiss. So many years ago....
"What do you mean?" She replied softly.
"I mean... I haven't ever done anything to change anything... The world is so big, do you think anyone will remember me when I die..?"
"Only if you make them."
They turned to each other, staring into each other's eyes.
"... Will you forget about me when I die?" Bubble's voice shook slightly.
"Will you forget me?"
"I don't think I could if I tried.."
Fanny took Bubble's hands in hers. Fanny's grip was significantly weaker than it was before, but she was trying the best she could.
"Bubble. I need you to promise me something. Promise me that no matter what, you'll never forget what you mean to me. You've made me, as well as many others, so happy. Promise me you'll remember this, even when I'm gone."
Bubble nodded, tightening her grip on Fanny's hands.
Slowly, she leaned into Fanny. Fanny coughed once, before connecting their lips for the last time.
The kiss lasted a few long seconds, and Bubble cherished every single one.
But soon enough, the kiss ended.
And Fanny was gone.
(513 words, I believe. Wow.)
