You are just starting a new job at a clothing store. You are still in training but since it's been a month now you do not have to be supervised as much. You still are not comfortable with everything yet. You have little to no confidence and it shows. Your coworkers have been taking advantage of you because you are too focused on remembering what to do to say no when they want you to do something that will make the manager upset. So you get into trouble from time to time. Today you are learning out to close the store. Your manager wants you to help straighten up fitting rooms, make sure the floor is neat and tidy and help out on the register. You are just clocking in and you find your coworkers have brought out a clothing rack with items that need to be put back on the sales floor. You want to help put clothes away and they are all talking about how it will take a long time to get every fitting room straightened up. You offer to help but they look at you and tell you they would rather you fold the cloths on the shelves instead. They tell you that it would go faster if the people who know where everything is does this and you would only slow them down. This hurts your feelings, because you thought you were all friends and you were just trying to do your job, besides how will you know where anything is if you don't put anything back. You do as they tell you because you are to hurt and upset now to fight back. You help fold and get on register. You decide to let this go and just do your job, however you are more aware of them and unsure of you can trust them. After the manager has gotten mad at you and your coworkers for trying to rush the job and get off early you start to wonder if you are being too nice to people and they are treating you as a doormat instead of a friend like you thought. Soon it is time to go home and you cannot find anyone! Its past midnight and you are nervous at walking out to your car all alone. You see your manger locking doors and ask where everyone is and she tells you that they are clocking out and you should hurry to catch them so you are not alone. You hear your manager tell the others to wait for you over the radio that you and all the others have to wear. You quickly finish clocking out and as you are leaving you see that everyone is already walking away and talking to each other. They do not care of you are trying to ketchup or not. You start to feel betrayed and hurt. You thought you could trust them and that they liked you. But now you no longer trust them and feel as if you must always be on your guard. These people are not your friends and will backstab you at any moment. You get home safely and your parents can tell you are upset. They ask you what is wrong and you tell them. They say that you should stop worrying about how everyone feels and focused on your job. You are a nice person but you should not be so helpful if that is how they think you by using you and leaving you behind in the dark. Suddenly your pet betta fish who has been watching you speaks up, "Give me two bloodworms and I shall tell you something very important." He swims to the surface as you open the jar of freeze dried bloodworms. You place two worms in his tank for him. He eagerly eats them. When he is finished he looks at you for a long while. Suddenly he speaks, "These words of wisdom are not my own; for they come from God. Look to 1 Corinthians 2:9; But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." You look at your betta for a minute then he speaks again, "Perhaps this is God's way of telling you it is time for a better job. You have been her long enough and God wants to go somewhere else and staying here will only get worse." You smile at him and decide you should pray about this. That night as you sleep you have a lot of dreams that you cannot remember but you have a very strong feeling that it is time to move on. After all this job does not give you health insurance and you are not allowed to work enough hours to make any. You can just barely afford gas! You decide that you will stop trying to please everyone and do your job until you are hired at a better one. You update your resume and start applying. Now every time you pray you ask God for him to guide you and help you get the job he wants you to have.
