"I was stationed there the night before the supposed Meteor crashed. Intelligence from the British Government stated there was nothing to worry about, they were wrong." How were they wrong? "It wasn't a meteor. My unit sent a scouting force with all the civilians as we didn't know what this thing was. It could've harmed the populace." "We were communication with the scouting unit until we lost communications suddenly, their last message was that something was coming out of the Meteor." Wait, something? "I think it had to do with what I experienced. After about an hour of waiting, I heard robotic striding. I looked to my Southwest, there they were, huge machines, looked as if they were made of stainless steel, 100ft tall, and looking like boilers. We were confused on what they meant for us, then, a bright light of heat fired from their tube which destroyed one of Armored Cars."

"We ordered our Mortar team to open fire, hitting one of the Machines, however, it did nothing. Captain then ordered our Centurions to meet the aggressors head on. I felt bad for those men, our 20 pdr was useless. The Martians retaliated by cutting one of the tanks in half, hitting another tank with the attack which exploded. Our last tank was then stomped on and kicked like a toy car." What happened next? "We were exterminated like mouses. I was the only one to survive, or at least I think." I was shocked. Our own army defeated so easily? Maybe this was false, after all, it was a smaller unit. "We need to get out of here." What? What do you mean? "I saw more of those things come down, and it wasn't it Britain either." How can I be sure, answer was I couldn't, but I reluctantly agreed. I found my car, and we drove back to the safety of London. However, I saw many Military Vehicles protecting Oxford, as if they were waiting on something. Then, the pounding of guns began, Tanks moving into positions and Harriers flying in the sky. Over the ridge I saw at least 150 of the same Tripods he talked about, but, there was another 100 more of these unknown Tripods. They were 300 ft tall, instead of looking like boilers with stilts, they were UFO like, 3 spider like legs moving towards the Army defenses. Before I knew it, I saw UFO's. I presumed they were the Aliens Air Force, they seemed to be close to the Foo Fighters myth I heard from old WW2 Veterans.

The Army opened fire with everything, Tanks shooting the now called smaller Scouting Machines to no avail. Harriers and Bombers dropping bombs onto the 300 ft Behemoth Machines, not even harming it as if there were something invisible guarding it. Artillery Pounding, taking out only a few of the Scouting Machines. The Behemoths raised, and fired an Invisible beam from their one eye. Anything from the path of this Heat Ray was laid to waste. Something popped out of the behemoths, they looked like canisters, once the canisters hit the ground, a black smoke came out, leaving only the lucky ones equipped with a gas mask to survive. I & my new found Military friend sped off from the battlefield, the last image in my head before we were out of Oxford, was seeing the Oxford Castle in ruins alongside the Oxford University. Showing that we were inferior towards the Martians.
