"Get me a gurney in here now!" I yelled as loud as I could. I slowly laid Mer down on the floor and checked her pulse. It was there and she was breathing, which was a good sign.
I picked her up and proceeded to carry her into a trauma room because the nurse wasn't coming fast enough with a gurney.
"Page Doctor Stevens and Doctor Karev!" I yelled.
I started to examine her as she started to wake up.
"Derek, what happened?" Mer said drowsily.
"You passed out, Mer," I replied as calmly as possible.
Just then, Meredith shot up and started to vomit, so I quickly grabbed the bin and put it under her mouth.
"God damnit Mer, whats going on?" I said
"I- I don't know!" she said as she puked again.
I felt her forehead and she wasn't warm, so I was really wondering what else it would be. Then, it came to me.
"Page Doctor Robbins," I said quietly to the nurse.
Just then, Izzy and Alex burst through the door.
"Oh my god," Izzy said.
"Mer!" Alex said as he ran to her other side.
Alex was Merediths best friend, and she was his. I knew he'd be worried.
"I'm here. What's happening?" Doctor Robbins said as she walked in.
I walked over to her and started to whisper in her ear.
"I think Mer might be pregnant. Can you do an ultrasound?" I said.
"Of course," Arizona said. "Get me an ultrasound and draw some blood please."
I grabbed Mer's hand and she looked into my eyes. I was so worried that something was really wrong, but I was also happy, because I might be a father.
"Doctor Robbins, the lab results are back." a nurse said as she handed Arizona the clipboard.
"Oh, well, Derek? Would you take a look at this?" Arizona said.
I walked over and read the lab to find that Meredith was indeed pregnant. I was so happy.
"Meredith, this is morning sickness. You're pregnant," Arizona said.

I was shocked but also happy at the same time. Me and Derek always wanted kids! But at the same time, I was still worried about Christina.
"How's Christina?" I asked Derek.
"I'll go check," he responded as he kissed me lightly.
I sat in the bed cuddling with my IV wires and waited patiently for Derek to return. So many thoughts were rushing my head. What if I'm like my mother? I don't want to be like her. She was terrible. I was alone most of my childhood. My mother was always out at work or with a new man. I was neglected.
I tried to push these thoughts out of my head, but eventually I just broke down all alone in the room. I sobbed into my hands and just kept thinking that I would be a terrible mother. Just then, Derek came back in.
"Meri-," he started to say, but as soon as he saw me in distress, he stopped and ran over to me.
"I can't be like her," I said through sobs.
"Like who, Mer?" he said as he grabbed my hand and held it tight. He pulled the rolling stool over and sat down with me.
"My mother. She was terrible," I started to say. I had never told Derek about my childhood because he had the best childhood and I knew I'd break down if I talked to him about it.
"Mer, what do you mean?" Derek asked confused.
It was finally time to come clean. "When i was a kid, my mother neglected me to go to work or to go sleep with a new man. She was leaving me home alone at the age of 4 to go and do a surgery or something. My dad was never there for me and-," I said, but my voiced cracked into a sob.
"And what Mer?" he asked, more concerned.
"Well, when i was younger, one of my mothers one night stands came in and hit me with a beer bottle because he was hammered." I said as I pulled my hair away from my neck at uncover the scar on my neck from the glass.
"Damnit Mer. I'm so sorry all of this happened to you," he said as he pressed a light kiss to my lips.
"That's not all of it." I said.
"Wh-what do you mean?" he asked with a stutter.
"When I was 14, I was um, I was cutting myself really badly. It number the pain of all the insults and the neglect from my mother," I said.
Derek's reaction couldn't have been better. He stood up off of the rolling stool and got into the bed with me and held me so tightly. I felt so safe in his arms. I wished we could stay like this forever.

I felt so bad for Mer. If I would've known sooner I could've helped her. I was so caught up in the moment, that I had completely forgotten about Christina.
"Mer," I said. She rolled over to face me.
"What's up?" she said in a perky little voice. She seemed so much happier that she had gotten that off of her chest.
I brushed a single piece of hair off of her face and started to talk. "Christina is completely fine. She's awake and alert and there's no internal injuries. She's more worried about you," I said.
Meredith smiled.
"Thank you Derek," she said as she cupped my face and pressed her lips to mine. We kissed slowly at first, but faster after a few minutes.
I broke the kiss and wrapped my arm around Meredith.
Just then, Arizona came back in.
"Hey Mer, here's your discharge. Oh, and congrats!" she said to Meredith. She signed the papers and we went home for the night.
When we got home, Alex and Izzy we're sitting in the living room watching TV. As soon as they heard the door open, we got swarmed with concerns and questions.
"Guys, it's nothing serious. I'm fine and now carrying another human," Mer said as if it was small talk.

We got congratulations from both Alex and Izzy and went upstairs. Derek and I climbed into bed and he wrapped his strong arm around me.
"Goodnight beautiful," Derek said to me as he kissed my shoulder lightly.
"Goodnight, papa," I said playfully as I shut off the light.
