Jimin and Namjoon felt more refreshed after talking to each other the day before. They acted out and weren't like themselves. Namjoon acted out from the stress of taking care of almost everything to do with the war. Jimin acted out due to the guilt of almost hurting his most precious loved one.
After expressing their feelings and saying what's been bottled up, they've returned back to their old selves. Even though they felt content, they weren't actually truly safe. They were still at war with the Spirit Fox Clan, which meant their guards needed to be up all the time.
Namjoon used whatever spare time he had to talk to Jimin. The rest of his time was spent making sure things weren't getting out of hand and training the soldiers. He had quite a lot of stuff that he had to take care of, but he was always happy to talk to Jimin after a long day of instructing.
Jimin on the other hand, didn't have much to do. He wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place. He mostly just walked around the camp and checked up on everyone. He would comfort those crying and encourage the injured. When he finished doing that, he was left with sitting in his tent for the rest of the day.
He hasn't heard from Jungkook in a while, which made him worried. He hoped that Jungkook was still alive and well, even if he came out with more than just some cuts and bruises. He was happy whenever he heard Namjoon talking to Jungkook on the phone, because that signalled that Jungkook was still alive.
The land outside was stained with blood after countless battles. Jimin guessed that the Spirit Fox Clan probably attacked them at the camp around 5 times now. The red colour had faded to a dark maroon, but the smell was still the same although it faded quite a bit as well.
Jimin internally prepared himself to watch another bloody battle at this camp. This time, he wasn't going to run away no matter what he was told. He couldn't. He didn't have the heart to run away and watch others fall, using them as sacrifices to save himself. Some people may think of others as just their pawns, but Jimin thinks of people differently.
He wanted to at least save a few people, because he was definitely unable to fight. The least he could do was to help Jungkook look after the clan after he looked after him for many months. He knew that if he had to face another attack at this camp, Namjoon would be in the front lines. He would be in charge of everyone's safety.
Jimin secretly trained on his own whenever his boredom got to the best of him. He thought that maybe training will help his body become stronger. He was still frail, and he didn't want to look that way despite what everyone said about him.
Just like Jimin predicted, they did get attacked by the Spirit Fox Clan at their camp. They were notified by the attack when they heard a scream and a moment of silence. Namjoon tried his best to keep everyone calm while fighting off the enemies. Despite his efforts, more than just a few lives were lost.
Jimin could tell that Namjoon was sad about losing a few comrades, but didn't have time to give them a proper burial until the crisis was over. Jimin was rushing to get people to safety somehow. He was going around every single tent, trying to find survivors and to drag them to somewhere far away from the camp.
He avoided the bullets flying towards him just narrowly. He could hear Namjoon screaming at him to take cover somewhere. Before, he would've listened to Namjoon like an obedient puppy. Now, he wanted to prove to himself that he could actually be useful, so he was using this reckless way to prove it. He didn't mind, because if he died, he would die as a hero.
He managed to find a tent full of children. They were huddled together and shivering out of fear. Jimin could see their innocence in their eyes fading. Jimin looked around, but didn't see anyone except the bleeding corpses outside the tent. Whoever the parents of the children were, they most likely died in an attempt to protect them. It made Jimin sad just by thinking about it.
Still, he had no time to waste on being sad. He had to get these children to somewhere away from the camp temporarily. The children were still at the peak of their innocence and didn't deserve to die just yet. No matter how much they resisted or drove him crazy, he was determined to save them.
He offered out a hand and signaled to them to follow him. The oldest out of all of them cautiously reached out and followed. She then signaled to the rest to do the same and sneak out quietly. Jimin smiled and continued his mission to save these children, planning every move in his head.
Once all of them were out of the tent, Jimin looked around for some weapons of fallen warriors. He managed to gather 3 guns, 2 spears and 4 swords. The guns were given to those that seemed to be more experienced with them. The spears were given to those that were less athletic and the swords were given to the ones that didn't have a weapon.
After each of the children had a weapon with them, Jimin looked around for shields and a possible weapon he could use. He also decided to pick up a sword. As a child, he practiced fencing and martial arts, so he was finally putting those lessons to use. He also found 3 wooden shields that the older children could use to protect all of them.
With that, he told everyone to be quiet as he snuck out of the camp with all the weapons. Sneaking out was no easy task, there were members of the Spirit Fox Clan around every corner. They were running low on ammo, so they weren't allowed to use their guns.
That left Jimin with no choice but to sneak up on them and stab them in the back. He did this a few times sucessfully, but he got caught one of the times. Luckily, one of the children stabbed the man in the heart before he could do anything bad to Jimin. Jimin gave a silent thumbs up and continued his way out with them.
They somehow managed to clear out all the people on the east side without using much of their ammo. Most of them were covered from blood head to toe and they were exhausted. Jimin felt bad for working the children so hard, but he knew that he had to if he wanted the children to survive.
He escaped with them that night, and took shelter in a cave. Since he didn't bring any food with him, he took the older ones with some swords to hunt for some wild rabbits. He even gathered a few wild berries for the younger ones.
That night, he made a campfire for all of them and skinned the rabbit for them to eat. It didn't taste good at all, but none of them complained because of how hungry they were. They were just glad to be alive.
They didn't take any blankets with them, so they relied on each other's body heat and the fire to stay warm. Surprisingly, they all stayed warm using that method despite all of their clothes being soaked with blood.
They lived like this for the next two days until Jimin decided that he was going to check if the problem at the camp was settled. He felt bad that he just escaped and left the problem to Namjoon, but he was proud of himself for saving the children.
The kids followed him back to the camp. They arrived around evening and saw that everything had become calm once again. All of them sighed in relief. It would've been a disastor if it wasn't calm yet, especially because they didn't bring their weapons. Then all of Jimin's efforts would've been in vain.
Jimin saw Namjoon from the corner of his eye. He looked as if he hasn't gotten any sleep for 2 days straight. He expected to he scolded by Namjoon the moment he set foot in the camp, but he was instead pulled into a hug. He took that as a way for Namjoon to say 'welcome back' to him, and he hugged him back as a way to say 'I'm glad to be back.'
