When I pull up to the orphanage, it's a lot more different than I thought it would be. With what Willow described in her letter, I thought it would be a rundown house in the middle of Los Angeles, but it looks pretty new to me. However, the newer exterior, doesn't mean that the interior is as nice. As I walk into the orphanage, I'm surprised to see that the main office is fairly clean. I know that my mother said no, but like I mentioned to Ethan before the show, no child should ever left behind or treated as less. I ring the bell on the counter, hoping that Miss. Violet and the others would be back from the show by now. With my luck, Miss. Violet comes through a door and I can hear the sound of children on the other side of it.
"Good evening, sir. How may I- Grayson? What are you doing here? We're getting close to closing." She's clearly shocked. I have the letter stuffed in my pocket, that way she can't see the horrors that I know that exist.
"I'm aware, Miss. Violet. I've actually come to request an adoption form. On top of that, I want one in effect right now. I know you have one like that. I called earlier and your secretary said that you did. So, if I could please have that one, that would be great." I state, trying not to show my angriness towards this women.
"Alright, I can do that. In effect as soon as you leave, I assume?" I don't respond, I only nod my head. "Which one of our girls has peaked your interest?"
"Willow."
"Willow? Really? Not Ashley or Hannah? Are you really sure you want Willow?" I can't believe the words that are coming out of her mouth.
"What's wrong with, Willow? Last time I seen her, she was fine." A voice says from behind me. It was Ethan. I tried to hide from him where I was going, but I knew that our twin instincts would kick in and he would know.
"Willow is a bit of a trouble maker. She tends not to listen to simple directions and she tends to get herself in unnecessary trouble." Miss. Violet explains as she twirls her pen in between her fingers. "But if you're sure, I will let you guys adopt her."
"We seen the bruise." Ethan says.
"Ethan, don't."
"We assumed the worst and we're here to stop it." I roll my eyes as Miss. Violet straightens.
"That bruise on Willow's arm? It's nothing more than a mere playground accident. Let me go get the papers. If you two will go through that door right there," She points to the door that she had come through a few moments ago. "Willow is upstairs in her room. Anything that is labeled with a W, is Willow's. She's got a lot of clothes and a lot of stuffed animals. There are boxes available upstairs for you to use. We close at eight. So hurry up, I'm not closing one minute later. "
She walks off, leaving Ethan and I alone. I look at Ethan and he sends me an apologetic smile as he twists the knob on the door. When we walk in, many of the girls are talking to other parents doing visits, and others just stare at us. I wave at a couple of the girls that were at meet and greet earlier in the day, but I don't pay much attention. I only came here for one little girl. One of the helpers stops us, with a small smile.
"Can I help you boys?" She asks, glancing at some of the other people in the room.
"Yeah, we're looking for a little girl named, Willow. Do you know where she is by any chance?" Ethan asks as he fumbles with his fingers.
"Yeah, I think she's upstairs in her room. If you go up these stairs and about the third door down on the left, I do believe is her room. She should be in there. She went up there as soon as they got back from the show."
"Thank you so much for your help. Are there boxes up there too?" The girl nods in response to my question before she moves to help another set of grown ups.
