James

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Willow. Happy birthday to you." I sing as I come into my room with a tray of warm breakfast.

Willow sits up, rubbing her eyes. She smiles at me before sitting up. When she does, I place the tray over her lap. Willow eyes the candle in the middle of the whipped cream on top of her pancakes.

"Make a wish, sweetheart." I tell her, brushing her hair out of her face.

She blows out the candles, "I don't have anything to wish for. I have everything I've always wanted."

"Awe, Will. That's really sweet." I say leaning over to kiss her forehead. "I'll be right back. I'm going to get my breakfast. Think about what you want to watch on Netflix!"

As I grab my breakfast off the counter, I hear something fall in the bedroom. Now, I don't usually run, but my mind tells me to run. When I get to the bedroom, Willow's laying on the floor. She has taken a bite out of her pancake, but that didn't matter. Her face was pale and I quickly dial 9-1-1. I frantically explain to them that I left for a few minutes and when I came back, she was on the floor.

Grayson

My phone rings loudly on my bedside table. Mack groans, rolling away to see what it was. She hands my the phone and I see James' name.

"Hello?" My voice is groggy.

"Grayson! You need to get Ethan and come to the hospital right now!" James is frantic.

My mind doesn't register what he's saying, "James, you're tired. Go back to bed."

"Grayson, Willow is having an allergic reaction to something!" I'm out of the bed in seconds. "We're on the way to the ER. She stopped breathing a few minutes ago! You guys need to get to the hospital, now!"

I'm rushing to get dressed, not bothering to tell Mack what's going on.  My heart is racing as I run down the hallway. I make it to Ethan's room and to my luck he's up.

"Ethan, get dressed now. Willow's going to the ER. James thinks she had an allergic reaction to something. We have to go!" I say which makes Ethan bolt up. He runs to his closet to grab some clothes. Emma gets up, getting dressed herself.

"I-Is she okay? Did they get her breathing again?" I ask James as I walk into the kitchen.

"Grayson, they've got an oxygen mask on her. They're not telling me anything. I-I don't know what happened. I made her breakfast and sang her happy birthday. She only had one bite out of her pancakes. Did Mrs. Violet mention any allergies that Willow had?" James says as Ethan comes in, struggling to put a shoe on.

I rest my forehead in my free hand, "No, she never did. No one ever did."

I hear the small heart monitor in the back start to beep. Willow's heart was beating again and I can't hold back the tears anymore. Ethan wraps an arm around me before I set my phone on the counter.

"Gray, she's going to be okay. It's going to he okay. Look at me," I don't dare look at Ethan's face. He forces my chin to look at him. "You have to believe that she will be okay. I know she will, but you have to believe that."

Even with Ethan's words, there is a part of me saying that she won't make it. I don't want to believe it though. I sink to the floor, bringing Ethan with me. He wraps his arms around my shoulders, holding me a backwards hug. The tears continue to fall down my face as Mack and Emma do their best to talk to James. I don't hear James question why his sister is at my house. He only is panicked on the other line. I don't hear any of their conversation until I hear the heart monitor hit a dead flat line. The whole world turns off. I don't remember anything that happens next. My world comes crashing down and I hear Emma start to cry. Are we all crying? Cameron, who wasn't here before, is standing near the counter. Her eyes hold her heartbreak as mom follows. No one has any words. It was like one small word could shatter the world. I don't remember turning around to face Ethan, but at some point I did. Or he pulled me that way. We're both crying as we help each other up. Within ten minutes, my mom is spending to the hospital as Emma tries to calm James and Ethan down at the same time. Mack doesn't try to calm me down, she knows I won't calm down. I won't until I know for sure that Willow is okay.
