Ai blinked, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Her cheeks dusted with a bright hue of pink, and her heart pounding against her ribcage; Ai couldn't qualm the butterflies in her stomach, or the racing thoughts inside her head. A note and a box of chocolates held close to her chest, and by her side was her closest friend, Haru.
Eyes flickering to the goggle-headed boy, with her voice soft and anxious, "just a couple more minutes until the meeting time," she breathed.
Haru gave a curt nod, "would you like me to come with you, Ai~chan?" His sweet tone, as gentle as always - or maybe even more so - filled her heart with confidence and warmth, and she could only smile at his thoughtfulness.
"No, it's alright, Haru~kun. I appreciate the thought," she stopped for a moment, both in her tracks and in her words, turning to her friend with a smile. Ai placed a hand to her heart, "your encouragement fills me with confidence. I know I'll be fine, thanks to you."
Haru could only smile, his cheeks flushing with ardor. Starting their way down the halls again, he tugged gently at the ends of the pink and purple ribbon, loosening it from its once tight, and firm knot. Slipping it off, he clenched the ribbon in his left hand, opening the small bag of chocolates with his other. He dipped his fingers through the opening, fumbling with a chocolate at the very top, and placed it in his mouth. Haru hummed in delight. Outstretching his hand towards Ai, the look in his eye nudged her to try one. She giggled and shook her head,
"It's okay, Haru~kun! I gave those to you."
"They're delicious, Ai~chan! I hope you know."
The clicks of their shoes against the floor, and the rhythm of their breathing was soothing to Ai. She crooned a song familiar to the both of them under her breath; a light, cheery song that reminded both of them of the times they spent together with their friends.
The two reached the door to the balcony within minutes, and Ai almost wished she could bask in that comforting, tranquil silence for an eternity longer. She breathed in deeply, eyes closed and chest high, before releasing it all - her worries, and bad thoughts - in a single exhale. Turning to Haru and flashing him a smile for the last time, she pushed open the balcony door, and began walking up the steps; the last hurdle to her final destination.
Looking through the door window, Ai spotted her. Arms crossed, and foot tapping, she looked rather impatient, and Ai felt her heart fluster.
"Ai~chan, I know you can do it! I have faith in you. She knows just what an amazing person you are, so I know she'll accept!"
Haru's previous words filled her with motivation. Regaining her composure, Ai held the box of chocolates and her letter to her chest with one hand, using the other to push open the door. The movement caught the attention of the pink, pig-tailed idol, that had ensnared the heart of Ai's in an everlasting grip of love and adoration. A smile, so jubilant and cheerful adorned her once bothered expression, and with eyes shining, she gestured over Ai.
"Ai~chan! Were you the one who slipped the note in my locker?" Eri asked; her voice in a lower pitch than usual, as an attempt to force down a twinge of excitement ridden in her voice.
Ai nodded. She strolled towards Eri, and with every step, Ai could feel the ticklish feeling in her stomach simmer down, and a fuzzy feeling replace it. A benevolent sentiment, enwrapping her in the warmth of a thousand affectionate hugs.
Confidence in tow, Ai outstretched her arms, carrying the box of chocolates and the letter, towards Eri. The gentle look in her eyes, shining with an undeniable brilliance, prodded at the idol, ever so tenderly, to accept the gift.
Eri stood eying the box and the letter, perplexed and in disbelief for a second or two, before an unreadable look crossed her expression. Eri placed her hands on the sides of the box, and entangled her fingers with Ai's. Ai flushed at the action, and stared, lost in the sea of Eri's dazzling, periwinkle-coloured eyes.
Taking the box and the letter from the younger's hand, Eri tucked the box underneath her arm, and picked away at the sticker on the front of the envelope, until it open. She slipped the note out from the envelope, and began to read it, noticing all the little details: crossed out words, doodles of hearts, and the passion placed forth with Ai's choice of words. Each and every detail made Eri's heart flutter.
"I didn't know how well I could say it aloud— my feelings, that is! So I decided to write it in a letter," Ai bit her bottom lip, "I hope you aren't too bothered by how messy it is."
Eri folded the letter, and placed it in her pocket. "Say it's messy again, and I'll give you a dokkan punch!" And with flaring cheeks, Eri stepped closer to Ai, opening her arms wide and enveloping Ai in a loving embrace. Pressing her lips, in a smile bigger than ever before, to the younger's cheek.

Leaning up against the wall, and peering out through the door window at the two girls, Haru could only suppress a squeal from escaping his lips. His eyes sparkled with excitement, and the applause he held back for Ai had been filled with a sense of pride for his close friend. Turning to his hooded friend, Haru whispered in a smily voice, "Rei~kun, don't you think they're cute?"
"Yeah," Rei grunted, his eyes wandering elsewhere from the cutesy, romantic moment happening outside.
Staring at Rei with a soft expression, Haru murmured, "I wish we were like that," just loud enough for both Yuujin and Rei to hear. He caught himself seconds after, flushing a shade of pink just as bright as Eri's hair, and covered his mouth sharply.
"Yeah."
Rei's response caught him off guard, as it was swift, almost immediately after Haru's voiced thoughts. Like it was automated, just like Rei's last response. But as Rei turned towards the stairs, hands stuffed in his pockets, Haru could see a gleam of Rei's pearly white teeth, bared in a smile.
"Aww, my Haru is growing up!" Slinging an arm across Haru's shoulders, Yuujin patted him on the upper arm, and gave him a thumbs up.
"Y-Yuujin!!"
