"Stupid fucking Rumerie," Futa groaned, massaging his aching temple with his thumb. His sharp eyes scanned the group chat messages once again: the teasing remarks, and the stupid, childish dares. But most importantly was the name of a website that Rumerie claimed was "haunted."Or some stupid shit like that.
Futa scoffed. Websites couldn't be haunted. They were pages of data and code on the internet. And it's not like ghosts were real anyways.
After typing in the name of the website, Futa clicked on the first link that popped up. The screen turned a bright white, making him squint his eyes, and in the corner of the screen a small loading circle appeared. It spun for couple seconds. Then, the page changed colours again: this time, the page was a turquoise hue. Across the top of the page were multiple tabs, just like any other website. Tabs like, "profile" and "home" and other relatively normal stuff like that.
The tab that caught Futa's attention the most, however, was the "events" tab. It wasn't an abnormal, disconcerting tab that no other website had. Of course not, that'd be silly. But, on a website like this, it was just odd. With a shift in his seating, Futa clicked on the tab. The page took a second to buffer, and multiple different "articles" popped up across his screen.
Futa blinked. His brows furrowed, and he bit the inside of his lip, as he quickly, but carefully read the titles of each article.
"2014, ******, Young Woman Goes Missing."
"2019, ******, 15-year-old boy is Found Dead."
All the titles went on like this: the year, an address, and some eerie article name about death or missing persons. Futa shifted in his seat again, a shiver crawling down his spine.
All the addresses were close to his house.
"Fuck this," he growled under his breath. Quickly, he brought his cursor up towards the back button on the left side of the screen.
The page buffered. He didn't even have time to click on it.
A new, unfinished article popped up:
"2020, ******, University Student -------."
The picture on the front of the article was the outside view of a house. It was dark out, and the only thing that lit up the picture were the light poles stationed on the sidewalk. The colour of the house or the architecture was barely visible in the darkness. But the thing that stood out most to Futa was the turquoise-y light that reflected on the window of the upper bedroom.
His breath hitched, caught in the depths of his throat, and he could feel his heart beat rapidly against his ribcage. He didn't want to turn around and look out the window, so, instead, he reached for his phone that he moved out of the way of his computer.
It was all a prank by Rumerie and Mana and the rest of the Dark Triad, he was sure of it. It was definitely a thing they'd do. Well, a thing Rumerie would do. And he'd expose their sadistic jok--
SLAM!
"SHIT!" Futa's phone slipped out of his hands and landed on the floor with a thump. The noise jolted him up from his seat. His hands gripped the back of his gaming chair so tightly that his nails were practically piercing into it.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
