( A/N: This is a way to more understand the familars, and for Yuki and Sayuri to bond with them. This chapter is not humorous like the others, and does have some sensitive themes, so be warned. There will still be a bit of humour.).
It was Sunday morning, proclaimed as the 'lazy day' for everyone as literally everyone refused to do anything important. That is why nothing strange would happen today. Seriously. Just the two heroes being lazy with their familiars at home. Of course, though, it will be dramatic. Just a tad though.
~ At the Yuki household ~
"What day is it?"
"Sunday, Master."
"UGH!" Very dramatically, might I add, Yuki threw a pillow across the room as she lay on the couch, groaning to herself. "I have so much bloody work."
"Don't do it all now, I mean..." He thought she would snap, or break his nose or his horn, but was pleasantly surprised by a smile across her face, and a soft giggle.
"Don't worry, I won't stress myself out. Hey, why did you flinch?"
"My previous masters didn't treat me nicely."
"Can I fight them-"
"-no-"
"-oh. But why were they like that precisely? You have a good character, and I doubt you have done anything wrong."
"Well, they didn't want a familiar. Or be...different. I suppose they took it out on me. Wanted to fit in, didn't want any troubles...probably hated the fact that they were summoners...and had me as a familiar. But...I like humans! I see...the light in everyone...Hah...they were so violent...they hurt me physically and mentally, broke me down when I was at my lowest...It...was my fault...right?"
"Kai..." By the strain in his tone, and the faint tear staining his cheeks, he was close to breaking down in front of her. He probably thought if she did, she would blame him for everything, for being her familiar, for every injury he had sustained...but she merely brought him into her chest, holding him tightly, but not too tightly, placing her head on his as he curled into her arms, crying silently. This went on for ten minutes before he pulled away, wiping the tears from his eyes.
"O-Oh...I g-got your s-shirt w-wet."
"It doesn't matter now. I just care about you. About how you feel, and you need to understand something, Kai. It wasn't your fault at all. It isn't right for them to do those things to you, you are alive and breathing, and have emotions. They are bad people consumed by anger and they have taken it out on you when you aren't to blame. Look, me, Sayuri and Natt care about you. You are our friend and we will protect you. You are loved..."
"Thank you..." He curled up in her arms, and they both fell asleep on the couch.~ In the Sayuri household ~
Once again, Sayuri was typing on her laptop, messaging Annabelle about an upcoming date they could go on Tuesday.
Ignatius was drinking a hell ton of coffee in a flask he had stolen from Yuki's house, standing behind Sayuri to watch what she was writing.
"Going on a date with Annabelle on Tuesday?"
"Aye."
"Do you go to different schools or something?"
"Yeah, used to go to hers before I got transferred due to an incident."
"Oh." He proceeded to drink the rest of the coffee in one gulp, remembering the time he had to drink lava for the entertainment of his 'masters'...unconsciously, the flask had crumbled due to his strength, now dust beneath his feet. The flask was no more. Tears made of pure ash escaped from his spheres, engulfing his vision. He was visibly shaking.
"Natt?" She touched his shoulder softly.
"DONT TOUCH ME!" She flinched, arms by her side.
"I-I'm sorry. I-I...didn't mean to shout."
"Why were you crying?"
"I was remembering something. Before I had you as my master-"
"-friend."
"What?"
"Don't call me 'master' and shit. You're my friend, right?"
"Yeah, " he managed a small smile. "Before you were my master, I had others of course. The one I had for five years used me for money. He deactivated the spell that only allowed himself to see me. So everyone else could. He forced me to use my body for money, or, do things for his entertainment...before you ask, he...is dead. I killed him, which is why I'm surprised that they allowed me to have another master. Another rule we learned in the school for familiars is that if we kill our masters, we are branded as failures. I suppose as it wasn't my fault, they let me off."
By this point, Sayuri was engulfed by anger, and her kitchen wall now had a burning, massive hole through it. All Ignatius could do is bring her into a hug, and she returned it.
"We will protect ya, alright? And we stay together."
"yeah...and Thank you for being my friend."(A/N:The other chapters will be more humorous, but I wanted to explain their pasts, and wanted them to bond. This is a more serious chapter, so it should be dealt that way. Anyway! Farewell for now.)
