Zainab checked her phone for the nth time and hissed.
Still no message from Kamal
It's been seven and half days since she left her house in a fit of anger after they had a bitter argument over the other woman.
"You're still going up and down like mumu when another woman is having her way with your husband right now"
Husna, Zainab's oldest sister who was home to visit said as she walked into the room without even lifting her eyes from her phone.
Zainab frowned and sat down. Husna's husband was the richest one of them sisters. Being a past governor, he was currently a Senator running his second term and a very influential entrepreneur.
With her husband's wealth, being the first born and being their mother's favorite, she said and did whatever she wanted without a single care in the world.
"What?" The queen looked away from her iPhone. "Isn't that what you were doing for the past three days I've been here?"
"Look Ukhti, if you're going to advice me or tell me what to do, then go ahead. But if you're here to mock me," Zainab stood up and opened the door. " The door is open and you can leave right now."
Husna laughed and kept her phone aside.
"You've always been impatient and a bit stupid you know"
Zainab rolled her eyes. "So.. Your point is?"
"My point is that I think you were stupid for leaving your house. That's it"
Zainab hissed and left the room, Husna's loud laughter still ringing in her eyes.
She went to her mother's room and sat down on the bed, waiting for the other woman to finish praying.
Hajiya bintu eyed her daughter from head to toe and let out a deafening hiss as soon as she was done.
"Wawiya, Jakar banza kawai" She cursed and Zainab felt tears pooling in her eyes. First her sister called her stupid and now her mom was also calling her a foolish donkey.
"How could you leave the house?" Hajiya binta flared. "Don't you know that by doing so you've let her get to you? You have shown her that you're scared of her and personally you have embarrassed me."
Hajiya bintu kept to her scolding for over thirty minutes and only stopped when Laraba brought Amir who had woken up and wanted to suck.
"Toh mummy what do I do?" Zainab sobbed. "I have tried everything but wallahi it's like she had done sihr on him, he doesn't look at me the same again, even that day in the room, after we were done mummy he called her name" she burst silent into sobs.
Seeing her daughter weeping bitterly extinguished whatever anger she felt towards her. Hajiya binta sat on the bed and rubbed circles on her back repeatedly.
"Kar ki damu Zainab. I will do whatever it takes to get that woman out of your home" Hajiya binta consoled. "Just leave it to me and don't worry."
"Thank you mummy."
A determined glint crossed her eyes.

Yaks' eyes flew open and he sat up immediately.
Tamin who was closest to him moved back subconsciously. Yakubu might not look like it but he was a very dangerous person with a devilishly handsome face.
On the exterior, Yaks was dark, like melted chocolate and had a good body build especially after working out during his time in the prison.
His pointed nose and small lips came from his Fulani mother. He had always had a lazy look on his face, his eyes always looking calm and friendly.
At this moment however, a storm was raging in his eyes and a dark expression crossed his face. He seized Tamin by his collar and pulled him close.
"What did you say?" He growled at the choking Tamin. "Who did you say married Mary?"
"Ka..ka..Kamaldeen Yusuf Baba" Tamin stuttered and fell to the floor in coughs after Yaks threw him.
"How dare he?" Yaks flew into a rage and pushed everything his hand could grab a hold of.
Mike helped Tamin up and they went outside with the other guys lest they fall victim to Yaks anger.
"Why is the boss so angry?" One of the men asked.
"That's because Yaks knows Kamal very very well" Mike answered, reaching for his phone in his pocket.
"What do you mean by that?" Tamin asked still rubbing his neck. He felt that if Yaks choked him for five more minutes, then he would be history forever.
"What I meant was" Mike looked at the guys and smiled faintly. "Kamaldeen is Yaks older brother."
At the look of shock on the guys faces, he added. "Same mother, same father."

Hajiya Salma paced to and fro in the parlor, looking at the wall clock every now and then. After a few more minutes passed, she sat on the chair and held her head in her hand.
The door opened and Abdulhaqq walked in humming happily. He'd managed to get Maryam's new phone number although he spent a bit of fortune on it.
He would call her tonight, tell her he loved her, tell her he was ready to take her back and all she needed to do was get her husband to divorce her.
"Abdulhaqq"
He was caught up in staring at Maryam's photos in his phone that he didn't look up to catch his mother's furious look and missed her angry tone.
"Abdulhaqq" Hajiya salma called again.
"Mhmm... Mummy what's up?"
"Auta what did you tell Salman, the evil girl's brother?"
Abdulhaqq froze for a minute. Everything about his plans to get Maryam divorced and marry her again, he'd hidden from his mother because he knew she wouldn't consent to it.
"What do you mean Mama?"
His eyes widened and he put his phone aside, propping a palm under his chin for support.
"I didn't say anything to him at all. In fact, since the day the wedding got cancelled, I haven't seen either of them"
Hajiya Salma assessed her son and decided to believe him.
"Perhaps he was simply seeking trouble." The weight she had been feeling on her shoulders dropped and she smiled.
"Why? What did he say?"
"Nothing much. Just forget about it but promise me you have and will have nothing to do with that shameless woman forever"
Without a beat of hesitation, Abdulhaqq smiled at one of Maryam's picture and looked up to his mother.
"I promise"
