Abdulhaqq opened his eyes with a groan and sat up. He winced and pressed his fingers on his neck lightly.

"You're awake" Yaks said from the side and he jumped.

He looked around and felt himself with his hands. Everything was intact, his wallet and keys were all in his pockets.

"Y...you" he pointed at Yaks while backing away. "Just who do you think you are to kidnap me? Do you know who I am?"

Yaks shrugged without looking away from the phone he was holding. A small smile was hanging at the side of his lips, his fingers gently grazing Maryam's picture.

"What do you want from me? How much do you want? I'll call my family now" Abdulhaqq felt his pockets for his phone.

"Hey..hey" he emptied his pockets. "Where is my phone?"

"You mean this?" Yaks drawled raising the iPhone he had been going through. "I am not through with it. I'll give it back when I'm done"

Abdulhaqq was stupified for a while.

"Do you want anything to eat or you want to pray first?" Yaks offered generously, adopting the

"I want to know who you are, what you want, why you brought me here and when I can leave"

Yaks nodded and handed him his phone. "I'll answer your questions one after the one."

"My name is Yaks and that's all you need to know. I don't want your money and no, this is not a kidnap."

"So knocking someone unconscious and bringing them some where without their permission isn't kidnapping to you?"

"Well" Yaks stood up. "Seeing as on a normal situation, you won't come with me, I had to do so."

"Okay so what do you want? Talk already. I have to go"

"Maryam. Stay away from Maryam"

"Which Maryam?" Abdulhaqq's confusion was genuine.

"Maryam. The woman who you refused to marry after getting some new information about her that you didn't know before."

"How... How did you know about all this?"

Yaks smiled and patted his shoulder with the impression of a big brother talking to his younger sibling. "You're so naive and stupid but I'll tell you. I was the one who had those photos and videos sent to you so you would call off the wedding."

Abdulhaqq stilled. He felt like he was doused in ice water from his head to his toes.

Maryam had been trying to explain to him when he showed her those photos.

What if she had a valid explanation? What if this criminal had been blackmailing her with the photos too? What if she had no choice?

He glanced at Yaks again. With a tattoo at the right side of his neck and his lazy indifferent demeanor, he didn't look like someone who could do such insidious acts but the fact that he had kidnapped him, Abdulhaqq, so swiftly indicated that he wasn't as innocent as he appeared to be.

"Are you wondering why I did it? Or maybe if I made the pictures up?"

Abdulhaqq crossed his arms without answering him.

"Everything's true of course" Yaks dropped the smile and his voice took a threatening tone. "And I am telling you now, that for your own good, you have to stay away from her and start loving another woman as soon as you can because Maryam belongs to me and me alone!"

"You're so hilarious" Abdul laughed, clutching his stomach. "Don't you know she married someone already? Let's say I listen to you and actually stop trying to get her back, what will you do to her husband? Threaten him to divorce her? And if he refuses?"

"If he refuses to divorce her willingly, then definitely there will be other means of getting him to do so." He headed for the door. "Get ready Abdulhaqq, then get the fuck out of my house. Don't make me bring you back here a second time just to tell you the same thing. FORGET ABOUT MARYAM"

"Zainab ki na ji? Can you hear me?" Hajiya bintu's low voice came from the phone.

"Yes mummy. I can hear you and I'm desperate. Husna's method of pretending the other woman doesn't exist didn't work. He just left to see her now and mummy I don't know what to do. It's like with every passing day I'm loosin Kamal to the witch."

"Is she very beautiful? Do you think she's more beautiful than you are?" Hajiya bintu clicked her tongue. "I have told you before. Such women, you don't go soft on them at all. One wrong move and your husband is gone. How do you think I've kept your father for thirty years despite the fact that I didn't give him a son?"

"I am sorry for not listening to you and for not taking your help the first time you offered it. But mummy I need your help now." Zainab sounded like she wanted to cry. "In fact you're the only one I can turn to right now ma

Hajiya bintu heaved a sigh. "There's no need to beg Zainaba. I'll be coming next weekend. I know a good man we can visit and his solutions always work"

"No mummy no" Zainab was quick to decline. "Mummy I don't want to do anything like that. I don't want to visit any man or any place. Just think of something else"

"This is the one method you can use and get rid of her sharp sharp forever. Stupid girl but I'll think of something else. Something that will definitely work"

"Thank you Mama." Relief laced Zainab's voice. "I just want her gone, out of our lives. I don't want her to die or anything but I just want her out of our lives. I want to have my husband back all to my self, i want our lives to go back to the way it was"

"Don't worry Zainab. Your mother will never fail you. Since you have refused the first solution and you don't want her dead...."

"Wait...." She interjected. "Mummy the way you're saying it so casually, have you killed someone before?"

Hajiya bintu laughed. "Of course not. At least not personally. You will learn to understand that it's necessary to get some people away permanently my dear. I'll call you tomorrow"

With a click, she hung up, leaving Zainab staring at the phone mouth open. For the first time ever, she felt afraid of her mother.
