Just keep moving forward Ronny, you'll be fine as long as you get away from him you can think throughly and asses your next move.
I breathe heavily taking in the cold bitter air trying to concentrate my movements so I don't fall again.
Wait a minute... Why hasn't Charlie noticed me?
Does she even care about me?
"No Ronny!" I quietly say to myself. She's not like that don't listen to that part of you.
The overwhelming anxiety and fear part of you. You know better than to listen to your demons."Just keep walking. You'll be fine. You can text her later" I say trying to convince myself.
Loud footsteps approach me from behind. Me being me was not a cautious human at all so I started to run frantically knowing exactly who was behind me and not wanting to face him anymore. I slipped and fell and this time I was not rescued. Instead of trying to stand up I laid on the ice covered concrete in defeat.
"You put on quite the show." Jonathan said with a hint of a smile in his voice.
I'm not sure if he is smiling, but I am in no hurry to find out.
I keep my head down not ready to stand up yet, praying that this walkway swallows me so I don't have to confront reality.
"I'll help you up when you're ready" he says in a tone that's so soothing that it convinced me enough to hold his hands and stand up.
Of course upon re-entering reality I had a few slippery moments, but each time my legs failed me Jonathan did not.
He steadied me and once again I could feel his eyes watching me which did not help with my overflowing embarrassment.
He caught on.
"Don't worry, I'll pretend none of this ever happened" he reassured me.
"Thank you." I reply while looking behind us to find out who else saw. "They weren't and still aren't paying attention." he says "they seem to be far too involved in their conversation to notice anything going on around them."
"Oh" is all I could muster as a reply. It's like he's reading my mind.
I watch Charlie and Porter still wondering if anything I said to her was actually heard.
"Well I guess I'm not her main priority, which explains why she's completely ignored me."
"I'm surprised you expected her to hear you at all. You were talking so softly that even I could barely hear you" he said almost like he was making fun of me.
Idiot. That was the entire point.
I brace myself before turning around to look up at him. Expecting his eyes to be on mine, which they were not. He was looking far below my eyes.
"Uh, don't feel too embarrassed, but your pants are kinda worse than before."
I look down almost oblivious as to what happened earlier that day. Staring at the only thing keeping my legs covered. The loosely tied jacket acting as an awful replacement for a belt. My pants completely ripped up and down making the part that keeps the pants around my wait useless because that's ripped too.
