Violet was tense as her shift came to an end and she left the restaurant with Rennan following her. She walked quickly, her mind just as plagued with questions as it had been for her last hour of work.
Their walk back home was almost too short for Violet's liking. Her thoughts were still jumbled and heart pounded furiously in her chest as they walked through the door to her apartment.
Rennan's hand on the small of her back startled her and she flinched away from his touch. His hand dropped away from her quickly, "Let's go sit down." He led them into the kitchen and they sat down across from each other, not speaking a word.
Violet quieted her thoughts and focused on the man in front of her, "So what type of demon are you?"
Rennan was slow to respond, staring at the table with a troubled look marring his face. "Rennan?"
He sighed and looked at her, "I'm half crossroads demon," he looked reluctant to say the next part, "and half incubus."
Violet's eyes widened and flew to his eyes to look for the violet eyes of an incubus. Rennan stared back at her, "You won't find anything that would give me away. I have it all glamoured." Violet nodded and paused in her search for evidence.
She was slightly panicked, if she had made a deal with an incubus she might be in serious trouble. When she was a kid, there had been a series of deals made with powerful incubus's and then a short killing spree that had everyone terrified to summon anything. The deals had stopped and shortly after the killings had too.
No one knew who had been summoning demon's and killing people, or at least that's what was said. Since then there had been serious bans and reforms to rules on summoning demons. Books on summoning and magic had been collected and hidden in university libraries for certain people to read. Violet had come across her book by sheer luck and she was immediately intrigued by it.
Her curiosity had led to her attempting to and succeeding in summoning Rennan. She looked over his features again and stared into his dark eyes.
"Let me see you without the glamour." Rennans eyes flashed to a dark purple almost immediately and Violet jumped in her seat at the sudden change.
He leaned back and laughed at her surprise, letting her eyes roam over the horns that had casually appeared on his head. His horns curled back and to the side of his head, the dark horns almost framing his face. They seemed to shift colors when the light hit them a certain way and Violet couldn't tear her eyes away from them. Violet was trancelike as she leaned across the table and stretched her hand out to touch his horns.
Rennan's grabbed her wrist as her fingertips grazed his horns, pulling her hand away from them. "Don't touch my horns darling, they're sensitive," Rennan grinned at her as she sat back down in her seat, her cheeks tinted pink.
Violet placed her hands in her lap as she started talking to Rennan again, "Earlier you said something about two sides of the deal, I thought you just needed a person to anchor you to earth?"
Rennan shook his head, "That deal works on some lesser demons, but stronger demons require more than that."
"So I guess you're a stronger demon then?"
Rennan paused to smirk at her, "I guess you could say that."
Violet narrowed her eyes, "What do you mean 'you guess'?"
He shrugged, "Well if I was in your position, I would be more worried about what the demon I'm bound to wanted from me rather than how strong the demon is."
Violet huffed, "Fine. Then what the hell do you want from me."
"Sex." Violet could feel the blood draining out of her face as Rennan kept talking. "Since I'm better than your average demon, and I just happen to be part incubus, I need sex to function at my fullest." Rennan reached across the table and grabbed her arm, gently tugging her hand towards him. He flipped her hand over to her palm was facing the ceiling and gently traced the lines decorating her wrist with sharp nails. "And because you have this lovely little mark binding us together," Violet looked up to meet his eyes, "You're the person that's supposed to supply me with whatever I need."
As Violet let the words sink in, blood came rushing back into her face twice as fast as it had left mere seconds ago, heating her cheeks to a burning pink color.
Rennan chuckled as he watched Violet's face turn from a pink color to a red. Her eyes flicked back and forth between Rennan's steady gaze and the nails that were still tracing the brand on her wrist.
"Can't you get it from someone else?" Violet's voice was shaking and she couldn't look into Rennan's eyes.
He smirked at her, "Get what from someone else?"
"The-" Violet paused, "The sex." She mumbled the last word and stared holes into Rennan's forehead.
"The what, darling?"
Violet sighed, "You know what I said."
"I don't think I do, you were very quiet."
She closed her eyes in frustration before steeling herself and looking at him again, "The sex, can't you get the sex you need from someone else."
Rennan smirked, "It has to be from you."
