How did I really feel about Justin going to Selena?

Well, I couldn't avoid the heavy pit in my stomach. Or the sweaty palms that I had to continuously wipe off onto my pants.

Or the constant scenarios that ran though my head that involved Justin realizing he was still in love with Selena, and leaving me for good.

"Earth to Vivian!"

"Huh?" I sat up straight, snapping out of my thoughts as Bella was waving her hand in my face.

Bella laughed and shuffled her fork through her salad. "Sheesh, have you heard anything I've said so far?"

"Sorry, I was um- just deep in thought." I tell her. I continue to eat my tuna sandwich I had ordered earlier.

"I said I'm three months sobers today." She smiles proudly.

I quickly clap my hands together, applauding her. I was so happy she had gotten out of the dark hole she was in, abusing the wrong substances. I could tell she was a lot happier and healthier. She was glowing in fact.

Also, she was a lot nicer now a days. We've gotten pretty close with each other over the past few months.

"I'm happy for you, Bells." I compliment her.

"Thanks." She smiles. "Now tell me what's on your mind? Apparently there's a lot."

I sigh and lean back in my chair, relieved that I could finally vent to someone. "Justin is going to see Selena today."

She stops eating and eyes me with a stern look on her face.

"What did you just say?" She asks.

"Justin is going to-

"No, I heard you the first time. It was a rhetorical question. Vivian, what the fuck?"

"What? Didn't you hear what happened?"

"Um, no?"

"She's been hospitalized recently because of like- anxiety, panic attacks, and mental break downs. Things like that." I explain to her.

"Um...okay?" She says, still having a confused look on her face. She showed no remorse. "What does any of that have to do with Justin?"

I shrug. "We just thought it'd be nice for him to go see her since ya know, they played a huge role in each other's life-

She interrupts me again and sets her fork down and crosses her arms. "I'm sorry Viv, but you're being so dumb right now."

I lean against the table with my arms folded. "Really? Was this this a bad idea?"

"Let's just say...last time I had a boyfriend and he was in Selena's presence, I didn't have a boyfriend anymore."

I could feel my stomach turn at the point.

"And they didn't even know each other? But Justin is a whole other story. I don't know." She shrugs. "They should stay in their place and continue to be just each other's past, but that's my opinion." She takes a sip of her water nonchalantly.

My leg was bouncing rapidly, and I was chewing on my thumbnail. I couldn't help but picture Justin and Selena in the same room, kissing and holding each other and never wanting to let go. Forgetting about everyone else around them. Selena forgetting about Abel.

Justin forgetting about me.

My head began to hurt thinking about it all.

"I would think twice before I'd let that happen." Bella says.

"It's too late now, he's going today."

"Then...just like, stop him?"

I put my hands over my face and groan. "It's not that easy, Bella. Plus, I don't want to be that annoying, controlling girlfriend."

"The whole situation is messy to me. What about Abel? I know him better than anyone, I know for a fact that he wouldn't let this slide." She scoffs. She rolls her eyes and shakes her head. I could tell it hurts her mentioning or saying his name out loud.

"I don't think their together anymore. I read it somewhere." I tell her.

"Oh." She purses her lip, and crosses her legs and bounces her foot. Maybe that lifted some weight off of her heavy heart.

But it just all landed right onto mine. My heart felt heavier than ever.

I want to trust Justin. I really do. But who knows what could happen? Can I trust the two of them together?

Justin and Selena have broken up and gotten back together more than I can count on my fingers. They were each other's first loves. Who could replace that? He hasn't really mentioned her much, but maybe because it still hurts him to talk about it? And if it still hurts, he still cares...right?

My phone began to buzz in my pocket. I pull it out to see Justin's name across the screen.

"I have to take this real quick." I tell her.

"Put it on speaker." She smirks.
