Here we go again.

After another warm shower, you waited for Velvet to come back. Bored, you check the wound again. It was from a newer scar, which hadn't yet hardened that much.

"At least it stopped bleeding. If it continued, there could've been a problem."

After a minute, Velvet came back with another towel and a first aid kit. Her eyes were still a bit wet from crying.

"Ah, good thinking, Velvet. I was going to use my towel, but you thought ahead. Good work," as you pat her head, making her blush.

"You don't have to do that, you know. Here," as she hands you the first aid kit.

"You will have to help me a bit. Sorry."

"Oh, erm... I don't mind. Where do I start?"

"Take some alcohol and a rag to deinfect the wound. Then- Oh, that stings!"

She was already rubbing the rag on the wound. It stung quite a bit, but it was a nice wake up call.

"T-there we go. Does it feel better?" she asked.

"It feels nice. Now, take a gause and bandage and wrap me up."

After a few minutes, you were nicely bandaged thanks to Velvet.

"Thank you very much, nurse Velvet. How do you know how to bandage someone this well?"

"When I was younger, people kept on picking on me because of... you know," she waggles her ears, "and I got a fair share of bumps, bruises, sometimes cuts. My mom always patched me up and she was the one who taught me."

"Well, seems as though you are much more talented than I thought, miss Scarlatina. Thank you."

She blushes gently: "O-oh, it was n-nothing. I'm just glad you're okay."

"Okay, let's go to bed now, it's pretty late. I just hope the girls don't overreact."

You head towards your room. Velvet goes to hers, but before she goes, she... hugs you.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"You can let go now, Velvet."

"Oh, sorry! I just wanted to say sorry again, but felt the urge to hug you."

*sigh* "You can stop apologizing. Everything is okay."

"..."

"Velvet."

She snaps out of it again and let's you go. She hurried to her room, while saying: "Have a good night!"

"You too..."

.............

You get back to your room and just flop into bed and fall asleep instantly.

[In the dream]

Darkness. The only thing around you was darkness. And what seemed like a strange beast, maybe more. It's snarling was not normal, nothing like a Grimm's snarl.

Not knowing whether to stay there or run, you tried to remain calm. The snarling continued, forcing fear into your bones. It sounded louder and louder with every passing moment.

Until, suddenly, it stopped. It had been replaced with a whimpering, similar to a dogs whimper.

The sound of metal cutting across stone filled the darkness. It continued, seeming as if it was coming closer.

It stopped, quickly returned and the whimpering stopped. A deep, truly terrifying laugh echoed. It felt familiar, very familiar.

SLASH! The strike came from nowhere. It sliced open your back, but you did not move.

SLASH! It sliced your back again, this time mirroring the first slash. A hand grabs your neck and lifts you high up. Breathing became very hard, the pain was too much. And then...

Feeling the tip of the double-edged blade on the middle of your back, the voice that laughed said: "Next time, don't try to act the hero."

The blade went through your spine and out your chest. It was slowly pulled out and the hand dropped you on the floor.

"And the next time we meet," the voice continued, "I will not hesitate in destroying you... Matthew."

You sprang upwards in your bed, but this time, you were very calm. Almost as if it wasn't a dream. You look around the room, seeing the girls still asleep. Checking the clock, you knew it was about time to get up.

"Saturday, huh? What to do today?"

*bzzzzz* *bzzzzz*

A call? At this hour? You seemed confused. Most students were still asleep, while the teachers were already up. Not shockingly, it was Ozpin calling.

"Good morning, sir. Why the early call?"

"Ah, Matthew. I have a mission for you. I hope you're prepared."

Your jaw dropped. But just for a second: "A-a mission? For me?"

"Yes. I need you to report to my office as soon as possible. Come alone. No need to wake the others, since they don't have classes right now."

"Yes, sir. I'm on my way there."

Ozpin hangs up and you think about what kind of mission you've been assigned.

*in the mind* "I better not get my hopes up. For all I know, I could just go for a hike without any fun."

Hurrying to get dressed, you made sure not to wake the girls. Door open, door closed, jogging towards Ozpin's office.

[Ozpin's office]

"Ozpin, I've already told you no. How many times do I have to repeat myself?"

"General Ironwood, I can assess the risks for myself. But he is more than capable of handling it. All on his own, if needed."

General Ironwood, general of the Atlas military, was getting angry because of Ozpin's constant crazy ideas.

"He hasn't even had any training yet! How do you expect him to-"

"Erm... Hello?"

They both look at you, standing in front of the elevator. The general calmed himself down.

"Hello. You must be Matthew. I'm general James Ironwood. Pleasure to meet you." He offers to shake your hand.

"Ironwood? Of the Atlas military? The pleasure's all mine then," as you shake his hand strongly.

"Matthew, do you know why I called you here?" Ozpin asked.

"It's about a mission, no?"

"Correct," Ironwood responded, "we need your help for something."

"Reports from huntsmen and huntresses tell us that the Grimm have been accumulating their numbers in secluded parts of the Emerald Forest. If we don't clear them, there is a possibility they'll attack Beacon." Ozpin was dead serious as he explained this.

"But why me?"

"Because we need your weapon's expertise. And there is a chance you will have to do it alone."

There. Done. And I can see what pain I caused to you wonderful readers in the previous parts. Sorry.
