Clementine couldn't sleep, she couldn't sleep a lot of the time, but tonight was worse, it wasn't the haunting memories of her past, no, this time it was her thoughts. She wasn't sure if it was the fact that Violet and the rest of them were back in her life or if it was something else.

Instead of pondering on it any longer Clementine decided to get up and go out onto the balcony, that I failed to mention, and get some fresh air. She always enjoyed the chilling night air, it calmed her, her anxious thoughts drifted away along with her haunting memories. But that all changed when she saw another figure outside the window on the balcony.

She thought it was Felix cause she had caught him out there a few times, but she was shocked to see the figure on the other side of the door was the one and only Violet, she was gonna make a beeline for her bed again, but before she the floor underneath her creaked and Violet's head snapped around to look at her with wide eyes.

As soon as they made eye contact Clementine knew she wasn't getting out of this so, cursing under her breath she spoke."Sorry I didn't know you were out here." She apologized.

"It's fine, I was just looking at the stars," Violet spoke softly as she turned back around. She looked over her shoulder eyeing Clementine warily before speaking."Do you wanna join me?" She offered.

Clementine thought for a moment before nodding hesitantly and making her way onto the balcony with her. It was silent, painfully so until before Violet finally asked the question that's been on her mind most of the day. "Why didn't you come back?"

Clementine was immediately overwhelmed with guilt at the way Violet's voice cracked like she could break down sobbing any second. It was dead silent for a few moments, the only sound being the slight breeze moving the trees and the night owl's, that is until Clem finally spoke up.

"Violet...I wanted to, okay? I really, really did."

"Then why didn't you?" Violet asked still, surprisingly calm.

"Things.....they got messy and, I mean it was kind of hard, figuring out where I was gonna go...I wanted nothing more than to go back, but Vi.....I just.....I couldn't." She finished, her eyes filled with sorrow as she glanced at Violet out of the corner of her eye.

"That's it? Clem, you gotta give me more than that." Violet pleaded.

"I didn't want to face you again..." Clementine admitted quietly," I knew things would be different and we'd be where we are now...." She finished.

"And where exactly are we now?" Violet questioned.

Clementine chuckled a little before responding, "Confused?" She said more as a question than a statement.

This caused Violet to crack a little smile, "Yeah, that could work."

It was silent after that, once again just the sound of the breeze moving the trees, the owls and the groaning of a walker every once in a while. "You know....it's nice having you back," Violet admitted quietly. Clementine almost didn't hear her, but she did and she was shocked.

"Really?"

"Of course...Clem, when you left... every day I'd look out the gate, hoping, praying that you would come back, that you would walk through that gate with a bow on your back and a rabbit over your shoulder." Violet turned her head and gave her a small smile.

"Guess I didn't exactly show up the way you hoped, huh?" Clementine smiled back.

Violet chuckled a little, "No, no you didn't. Instead, I got 'How bout' I put a bullet in your brain instead'." Violet smirked.

"Oh God, your not gonna use that against me now are you?"  Clementine laughed.

"Hmm, I don't know..maybe," Violet said with a teasing smile.

"You fucking better not," Clementine warned playfully.

After that they were silent, just standing and leaning against the railing look at the stars and listening to the wind blow the trees. Eventually Violet suggested they sit down and look at the stars instead of standing saying something along the lines of, 'My legs fuckin' hurt from all the walking, I'm not gonna stand around when I have the option to sit.' They eventually both fell asleep, their shoulders touching and heads leaning against each other.

When Clementine woke up again her head was in Violet's lap, she didn't realize this at first until she felt a hand stroking her hair, she immediately felt the heat rise to her face and she was surprised Violet didn't feel it on her leg.

Trying to figure out what to do to get out of this position, Clementine pretended that she was just stirring from her sleep and let out a, surprisingly well done, fake yawn and shifted ever so slightly. Violet froze her movements and Clementine felt Violet slowly untangle her hand from her hair.

"Sorry, didn't mean to wake you." Violet blushed as Clementine sat up.

"It's..it's okay, you didn't wake me.....How long have you been awake?"  Clementine stuttered out.

"Not that long, don't worry. But I did hear someone get up, not sure who though."

"It was probably Felix, he's always up early."

"What's the story between you two, you seem...really, really close."

Clementine chuckled a little before responding."That's an understatement, he's like the brother I never had." Clementine smiled sweetly as she thought of how much Felix has helped her and cared for her and visa versa.

"How'd you meet him?" Violet asked as she stretched out her bones popping back into place after sleeping in such an awkward position.

This time Clementine laughed, fairly loud too."That is a story for another time." She said she stretched out as well.

"Wow, it must have been pretty interesting." Violet smiled.

Before Clementine could reply someone poked their head out of the door, probably having heard Clementine laughing.

"There you two are," Louis said as sighed of relief.

"Where do you think we went?" Clementine asked as she stood up along with Violet.

"I don't know, neither of you were in your bed or downstairs, and I know you both like to sleep in....." He paused and looked at them with a confused face before speaking." Why are you out here and why were you on the floor?"

They both became stuttering messes, trying to come up with an excuse as to why they were practically cuddling, luckily Louis didn't see that."Umm...we..uh..talk...I mean...stars." Violet stuttered out, Clementine failed to fight back a laugh causing Violet to glare at her.

"English, Violet, English." Louis replied before his eyes widened."Stars? Have you guys been out here all night?"

"Pfft, no. Why would we have slept out here?" Clementine lied, although Louis saw right through her.

"Mhm, why were you out here?"

"We were just catching up with each other," Clementine said as an excuse.

"Oh, yeah that...that makes sense," Louis said slightly embarrassed.

"Yeah, it does, now if you both will excuse me I'm gonna go bug, Fe, for breakfast," Clementine said before walking back inside.
