Ch.3
Sophia’s POV
The dark, black storm clouds rolled in from behind the mountains. I stared at them angrily for disrupting my relaxation time on the roof, Luke said that he should be going any way and I watched him skip-hop back over the fence to the boys dorm. Well he’s an interesting person, what was he doing up on the roof anyway? My thoughts trailed off and I kept walking.
What am I going to do now, there was still another hour till Melissa and the rest got back. I sighed, “I guess I’ll just study then.”
As I was walking down the corridor towards my room I bumped into something hard. I sighed, not again! Charlotte was constantly practicing her force field spells because for some reason she could never get them right, and when she did succeed she couldn’t properly get rid of them. I’ve told her numerous times that she should probably find another place to practice which wasn’t in the way of everyones path.
I set my sketch book down on the floor, her force fields are so weak it only takes a simple spell to break them. I took a step back and turned so my left side was facing the wall. My eyelids fell shut as I concentrated, I slowly lifted my left hand to the wall and it dissolved at the touch of my finger tips.
My eyes flicked open. “What?” It usually takes more time and effort than that!
When I reached the room I stopped in front of the door. Ah! I could go see Owen and ask him about the storyteller. I dumped my sketch book inside then made my way to the library. Owen is there like 24/7.
I walked into the study area and searched the tables. Owen was nowhere to be seen but for some reason Luke was sat down at one of the far end tables engrossed in a book.
I approached him and asked, faking a scared voice, "Are you stalking me?"
He looked up and laughed. "If anyone’s being stalked it’s me!" he said.
“Oh my god really? By who?” I asked trying to hide my smile but failing badly.
He laughed even harder at this and said, “Well you see that girl over there, I swear she’s been following me for the last half an hour.” pointing at a girl innocently reading a book in the non-fiction section. We both burst out in laughter but stopped when one of the librarians glared at us from across the room. Luke was actually pretty cool.
Then I looked down and realized what book he was reading. "Hey, you're reading a book on the Magia Gem!"
"Yeah, what's it to you?" he asked bluntly.
"So you were that storyteller!" I exclaimed.
“I guess so. Why?"
“We'll I've always liked the stories of the Magia Gem and until recently I also believed them."
"They are real though, I have proof."
He said seriously.
"What proof?" Surely it isn't real, I thought.
"Well, what's my last name?" he said, expecting me to know it.
"What, you don't know?" I said, even though I knew that's not what he meant.
"Dionne." he said, "Lucas Dionne."
"W-what?" I staggered, "Are y-you saying... You're... Dionne!"
"Yeah, the 7th descendant of the great Wizard Dionne." he said then smiled.
Wizards are a complete different thing to a warlock or witch. Most of the time Wizards are evil. No one knows much about them because the higher ups won't let anyone find out, but the word is they are fierce creatures and extremely powerful. The Wizard Dionne was the last owner of the Magia Gem and used its powers for bad things, he was unstoppable according to the tales.
"So, what do you think?" He questioned, bringing me out of my trance.
"Huh?" Oh fudge! Was he talking that whole time?
He didn't seem to care that I wasn't listening and repeated himself. "I think we should have an adventure! Go and find the Magia Gem! I was going to go myself anyway but it will be helpful and more fun with someone else!"
It would be risky but it would be nice to have a break from my average life at the moment. I'm actually starting to like this guy!
"Hang on! We can't just leave during the middle of school and it would be a dangerous journey, we don't stand a chance." I said kind of disappointed.
"I think you're underestimating me a bit." He said with a huge smile spread across his face. I wonder if he has anymore amazing secrets I don't know of.
“I have a question, what were you doing up on the roof earlier?” I asked.
“Training.”
His answer made him a lot more interesting than before and got me even more curious. It’s amazing how just one word can make such a difference. Most people would think it was just normal training and he just needed some space but I know better than that. With the smile he was wearing it could be anything.
“Meet me back on the roof tomorrow at 4 o’clock after classes end. I’ll show you my skills and maybe you can show me yours.”
Zach’s POV
I rested up against a tree and carelessly fell asleep, knowing that none of the forest creatures would try to attack me because of the dark aura I had. I planned out what I was going to do tomorrow, where I was going to go. I had started my quest to find the Magia Gem without a clue of it’s whereabouts whatsoever and now I was already heading towards the place it was hidden. My father had recently died and I continued his dream to find the gem and conquer the land, defeating anyone who got in my way.
