Those damn familiar brown eyes. Dani wished she didn't feel the missing feelings in her gut that she currently had flying around. Her eyes were big and they seemed to only get bigger as she realized there was no escape from this. His eyes seemed to recognize her immediately and some sort of sadness waved through his eyes.
'Dani,' he said. Dani couldn't think straight as he had his hands on her shoulder, helping her get her balance back after she almost fell back on the ground. It was for both of them weird to see each other. One of them felt a lot of regrets seeing the other one after such a long time, and the other one felt hurt. Dani couldn't say a word, she just kept looking at his face.  His crooked nose that she loved, his beautiful brown eyes that she used to dream away in without him noticing. He even had a beard. A beard... He looked good with a beard. 'How have you been?' His words broke her out of her thoughts. She looked confused at him as he looked at her hopeful, waiting for a response. She shook her head as she met with his eyes again.
'Don't,' she said in just some whispers. That couldn't be his first question, right? Dani didn't want him to act so normally to her with those normal questions.
'What?' Daniel asked as he still had his arms on her shoulder. As much as Dani missed his touch, she pushed his hands away and stepped away from him.
'I can't.... I can't do this,' she said still in a small voice. 'Sorry,'
Dani decided to just walk away from the situation. She wasn't ready to see him, not yet at least. Finn and Oliver looked at the confused look on Daniel's face before walking after their friend. Daniel watched the two boys almost comforting Dani as they caught up to her. He couldn't help but feel jealous of Dani's new friend. That was supposed to be him.

Dani had sat on the stairs leading to the beach. Her two friends, Oliver and Finn, sat down next to her both on each side so she would sit down in the middle. They were expecting for Dani to cry, but she didn't. She looked sad and confused, which she was.
'Dani?' Finn was the first to dare to speak up. The two boys weren't sure what their place was in this situation, but they could both agree that Dani was in need of some comfort.
'I just... I wasn't prepared to talk to him tonight. He can't just act like... like nothing happened.' Dani sighed as she looked at her fingers. From the corners of her eyes, she saw the two boys looking at each other. 'I'm being dramatic, right?' she asked, looking first at Oliver before moving her eyes to Finn. He shook her head.
'No, you're not.' Finn took her hand and put it on his lap. 'You're not over him, you're still hurt.'
Dani took her hand out of Finn's as she looked at him irritated. 'I'm over him. Trust me,'
'You don't seem like it,' Oliver said, approaching her not as careful as Finn did. Dani looked at her other side to Oliver. She had her eyebrows raised at him. 'Well, it's true. You have to see yourself in the mirror. You're not over that guy and it's obvious,'
Dani rolled her eyes at Oliver. That wasn't what she wanted to hear from her friends. She sighed as she looked down at the beach. She wanted to be over him. She really did.
'It's almost midnight, let's get that great spot to watch the fireworks,' Oliver said, already standing up. Finn followed his lead and took his hand out for Dani. She looked at his hand and finally took it. He pulled her up in one movement as they walked back. They met up with Kurt and his friends to watch the fireworks. They could see the whole festival and had a perfect view to watch the fireworks.
'You okay?' Kurt asked her sister as he put his arm over her. He had seen Dani's reaction after she bumped into Daniel and was worried about the look on her face that he saw. He encouraged Daniel to look for Dani, but he obviously didn't expect her reacting like that.
'Yeah,' Dani said after looking back at him. She smiled at him and decided to just forget about what just happened with Daniel. It wasn't worth thinking about when she could spend her time having fun with her friends and family.

When the fireworks were over a lot of people decided to go back home. The festival would still be open for another hour or so. Kurt and his friends decided to go while Finn, Oliver and Dani stayed.
'I wanna get some candyfloss before we leave,' Oliver said while they were still hanging out at the same place where they watched the fireworks. Dani had sat herself down on the fence as she sent a funny face at Oliver. 'What?' he asked. 'I heard they have the best candyfloss here,'
'Who told you that?' Dani asked.
'My eyes,' Oliver answered back with a grin. Finn stood up too.
'I actually want some too,' Finn said. Dani laughed as she shook her head.
'Then get some candyfloss kids, I'll be here waiting.' she said, being in a way better mood than before. The two boys walked away from her as Dani stayed sitting on the fence. She could see the two boys walking to the candyfloss booth and saw them annoy each other as they give each other playful pushes. Dani couldn't help but let out a small laugh as she shook her head.
'Am I allowed to say I'm glad to see your smile again? Or will you run away again?' Daniel suddenly stood next to her. She didn't even hear him walking over to her. He always was so loud, when did he become so sneaky? He leaned on the fence as he looked at her closely.
'What do you want Daniel?' Dani asked with her eyes closed, not wanting to look at the man that hurt her when they were teenagers.
'I want us to be speaking again,' Daniel said honestly. She opened her eyes and stared at the candyfloss booth where Finn and Oliver still were standing. Daniel followed her gaze to the booth and started to speak up again. 'Because I can't be the only one looking at all these different booths and not get haunted by all the memories we share with each other,' Dani had to do her best to not look back at Daniel. 'I wished we could go back to that time,' he went further. Dani couldn't help it anymore as she looked straight into Daniel's eyes. 'We really were kids back then. I remember me buying candyfloss for the two of us and we were just playing around. For some reason when we got back to your place you had candyfloss in your hair.'
'It was very sticky, I remember.' Dani said with a smile as Daniel smiled back at her. He felt joy through his body flowing as she finally spoke back to him.
'Yeah, it was. And it didn't help when I accidentally took the brush that had gum in it because your brothers wanted to prank you with it, guess I helped them a bit without realising.' Daniel laughed. Dani loved that laugh. She was trying so hard to hate him, but in fact, she couldn't hate him. 'I was glad your mother came to help.'
'Kurt and Will thought-'
'Dani, you ready to go?' Daniel and Dani's conversation ended when Finn and Oliver interrupted them. Daniel looked at the boys that were waiting for Dani, his Dani. It was Finn that looked at him with disgust as Dani said a fast goodbye to Daniel and walked straight into Oliver's arm that he put around her shoulder. Leaving Daniel alone at the fence.

A/N: So... did someone watched the Eurovision? I'm honestly so happy that my country won it finally again after 44 years, even though there were a lot of great songs this year. Seriously this year there were a lot of great songs.

But anyway, chapter 6. Let me know what you think of the chapter 😋
