Lola's POV
Through out the night before, all my thoughts had been on my presentation about my research. Although this wasn't the for time I would have to do it, but I was just as nervous.
Suzy had encouraged me to believe in myself and stop the jitters and supported me in many ways than I could recall at the moment.
In order to help me focus on my pending and utmost import mission, Suzy offered to drop me off, so I wouldn't go through the bother of driving.
She was a real divine blessing to me.I had hurried to my station and reviewed, for the umpteenth time, my slide presentation.
It was 9:30am when Mrs Okafor told me the investors had arrived. I had planned to rest till 9:45am, which was 15 minutes to the meeting, after studying for almost two hours, but I guessed we'd have to give the guests a warm welcome.
After about 5 minutes of standing outside the building, a black luxury car rolled into the driveway very quietly.
Immediately, my heart started thumping. It was as if I had forgotten all that I had read.
Not long after, Mr Schmidt surfaced and another white young man with him.
Now that he was dressed in a well fitted three piece suit, he looked more like an investor than when he had first arrived Nigeria.
From where I stood, I could feel the powerful aura he exuded and his presence was very commanding.
I stood at the end of the short line we had created and kept memorizing my lines.
I was barely halfway into it when I heard someone mention my name. I waited for a confirmatory second call but it never came. From the little attention I paid from their discussions and introductions, I learned that the young man with him was his secretary and his name was Dylan Cook.
We walked into the building and went straight to the boardroom.
I excused myself from entering yet because I needed to get some of the materials we would need from my director's secretary. She had been nice enough to help me collate and print the out. When I returned to the boardroom, I straightened my pencil skirt and cleared my throat and entered the room.
The first sight that welcomed me was Mr Schmidt sitting at the far end of the boardroom table. He looked impeccable just sitting there in his tailored navy blue suit and snow-white shirt.
Immediately he turned his head in my direction, I started sharing the files that were in my hands.
Although I'd been shy to meet or talk to him since it could be awkward and I knew I would have to meet with him later as I had prepared a meal for him.
When I had gotten to where he was seated. I leaned forward and dropped the file on the table, in front of him.
He had a very masculine scent and he felt warm, from where I leaned.
I moved towards the Chairman and dropped his copy in front of him and stood west of him, which was almost opposite Mr Schmidt.
Since he was intently looking at the file, I used that time to check him out. Suzy had asked me how he looked and I hadn't been able to reply to her satisfaction.
Although it hadn't been a heated gaze, Mr Schmidt looked up at me as if he knew he was being stared at.
He held my gaze and I wasn't able to look away. I felt as if I was being drawn to the depth of him.
Underneath the sleeves of my shirt, I could feel goosebumps rising and I was sure it was not because of the low temperature of the boardroom.
As if from far far away, I heard someone call my name.
