chapter 2: great

"HOW the hell did you even get here?" The boy asked rudely, "thanks for the warm welcome." I retorted sitting next to him.

"No I mean it, how did you even get here. It's not like you could've hid from the fucking apocalypse," He added and I shrugged.

"I'd like to know how you got here," I asked back. I was simply pushing his buttons.

"I time traveled. Now what about you?" He asked. His tone had completely changed. He was calmer now. Less paranoid.

"Same. But how did you time travel? That seems nearly impossible. For you at least," I answered and he shrugged.

"It was a part of my I guess. I was born with it. What did you use to get here?" The boy asked once again.

"I was born with parts of it. I didn't think I could time travel, until I did tonight- well when I did at dinner at the time," I responded kicking debris with my sneakers.

"Why do you look like your from private school?" I asked laughing, and he pushed me slightly. "It was my uniform. This was my house, or school, or whatever you wanna call it. It never felt like home. Especially with the idiots that hung around."

"I didn't think there would be two of us," he added. "I didn't know there was more of me, even with powers."

"What's your birthday?" He asked, "October 1st, 1989."

"43 children were born on that day, in the same circumstances. As of now, I know of 8, including myself. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of the others. They could be from all over the world. One of my sisters was born in Russia, a brother was born in Australia etc. . There's still 35 children out there, or there was. It's just crazy to believe that we didn't know any of them," He finished and I was in shock. So it wasn't just me.

"I'm Evelyn," I said and he gave a little smile, "Five."

"Like the number?" I asked and he nodded.

"You don't have a real name? That's so boring," I responded causing him to smile even more.

"All my siblings had names, I guess there wasn't a right one," Five said and I shrugged. "There has got to be a name for you. What are your siblings names?"

"Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Ben and Vanya," he listed counting off of his fingers. "Vanya? I've never heard that before," I added and he shrugged.

"What about Alexander?" I asked and he laughed, "I think I'll stick to Five." Fair enough.

He stood up, offering my a hand up as well, which I gladly took.

"Did you have siblings?" Five asked and I shook my head. "I don't think so. When I was at dinner I was an only child, but I saw pictures of a boy, a teenager in the house so perhaps I had a sibling."

"I would kill to be an only child. My siblings are idiots," Five added and I laughed. "It's boring being an only child, I promise."

"So what now," I asked after a pause of silence.

"I'm not sure. I don't know what to do," Five said looking around. I nodded.

"Let's start walking," he said, "let's start."

And we walked.
