Green could tell that he'd upset Blue. He really hadn't meant to. It was just that Blue seemed to take everything he did or said the wrong way. Green loved all of his brothers and wanted the best for all of them. Blue seemed to think that translated into, "I'm the best! Listen to me!" and snapped at him like an angry turtle most days. It sometimes tried Green's patience so he and Blue argued frequently.
It made him a little sad to see how much they all bickered anymore. Green and his brothers had been crazy close when they were little but, as they got older, they seemed to grow apart a little more each day. He missed the good old days before all the crap started.
But... he was getting sidetracked. Green had a mountain of homework to get done before he could go and hang out with his girlfriend, Zelda. Zelda's family and Green's had been super close for generations and the five of them played together all the time when they were kids. Zelda was one of those unique people that just couldn't help but be adored by everyone she met. She'd always meant the world to Green and he would do anything to make her smile.
The problem was that Green was utterly dumbfounded on how the heck to do his math homework and the time he'd planned to spend with Zelda was decreasing by the second. He was supposed to be using logarithms to solve exponential equations. Unfortunately, knowing what you're supposed to do and actually being able to do it are very different things. He had been staring at problem #17 for the past twenty minutes trying to work it out, only to no avail.
Green knew the thing to do would be to ask Vio to help him. Vio was basically a walking library of knowledge on any topic no matter how random. Unless you asked about feelings. You would be just as well off daring Red to punch someone as you would asking Vio to talk about feelings. It really caused a debate for Green on whether or not his brother actually possessed any kind of emotion.
Luckily, you didn't need to have feelings to do math. In fact, Green was becoming certain that anyone who did math for lengthy periods of time was doomed to have their soul sucked out by it. Maybe that was what was wrong with Vio, he learned too much and was now soulless. But Green figured he should probably stop insulting the person he needed help from, even if it was just in his head. He had just gotten up to go pry Vio's fingers off of whatever nerdy book he was reading when Red called them all to dinner.
Blue looked like he had calmed down some and was chugging what was probably his fifth cup of coffee today, while sitting on the counter yacking at Red. Red had already set the table and was currently taking a pan full of homemade macaroni out of the oven. Green cleared his stuff off of the table and then returned to his seat once there wasn't anything left for him to do.
It looked like Dad wasn't coming home tonight. If he were, he'd have been back by now. Blue must be celebrating that he wouldn't be getting into trouble until later. Green personally thought Dad let Blue get away with too much and wasn't doing his son any favors by doing so. Oh, well... it was this kind of attitude that upset Blue most days. Green really needed to learned to keep his opinions to himself.
Actually, what he really needed to learn was how to do his math. Every time he started to get back to it his mind wandered off to his family and friends. But right now he had a valid excuse, right? It was dinner time. No one did homework during dinner, that would just be rude. Yeah, sure Green justify it to yourself however you need to. Whatever.
