This house frightened her.

"Are you sure we are ready for it?"

"No," she replied. "Yes," she corrected, "no. Yes. No, wait. Wait, yes. No."

913 days ago, West Green and Kai Wilson dropped out of school alongside with Sid Stonem, their best friend in order to pursue their dream and make music.

A series of misfortune had caused Kai and West to ponder in coming back to their home town; Beacon Hills. Each time West would ask her if she's sure or ready, she'd have a short argument with herself, and her final word was usually 'no', yet the two were there.

From one side of the street was her family's house, and from the other was West's.

Kai tucked her dark hair behind her pierced ear, taking a deep breath. "Maybe we can just take a plane to Europe and find a new bassist-"

"I'm not doing this without Sid." he paused, looking at the house.  "We can finish senior year somewhere else though..."

"No, no," Kai sighed. "Let's do it!" she cheered.

"Wait," West stopped her. "Don't you think you should take out the nose ring? Lip piercing? Maybe hide the huge tattoo on your arm with a jacket?" he offered.

"No," Kai said. "I'm going back as myself; no more pretending."

"Okay," West nodded, running a shaking hand through his bleached hair. "I'm scared as hell."

"I think a diarrhea is coming my way," Kai agreed.

"Dude," he whined. "Way too much info."

"Sorry," she shrugged, smiling evilly. She started nervously playing with her lip- ring. "Maybe not. You know, just fucking leave again."

"Stop swearing," he said absentmindedly, staring at his three story house. He noted to himself that they painted the outside of the house in white. "You know what? Fuck it, get in the car. We are going to LA."

"Good plan!" Kai cheered, grabbing her backpack from the ground and going to re-enter the jeep.

"Holy-- Kai! West!"

"Of fucking course," Kai swore to herself, closing the door. She glanced at West, that was already walking ahead. She sighed, turning to see who called her.

"Holy shit, Isaac Lahey?" she blurted out. "Dude! You are so hot now, what the fuck happened in two years?"

Isaac laughed, giving West a 'manly hug', before walking to Kai and picking her up in a hug.

"What are you guys doing back in town? Where's Sid?" West and Kai glanced at each other.

"The news didn't spread, huh?" West asked, pulling his nose. "Well, you see. Few months back there was this... We were performing at a bar."

"Yeah?" Isaac asked, noting to himself the sudden change in Kai and West. "And?"

"And there were these few guys and they were..."

"Drunk off their asses," West provided.

"Yes," Kai agreed. "They were totally wasted and the owner was like 'I am not letting you drive like this'."

"And you know how it is on America," West shrugged, "one minute it's just talks, the next moment a drunk guy is stabbing your best friend."

"Good ol' America!" Kai cheered. "Yeah, so we quit band life and came back to finish high school." West and Kai nodded at each other, "but that's not interesting, what about you, pretty boy?"
