If these walls could talk, they'd have so much to say

How did it  go?

Terrible. U?

Awful.

Wanna go buy some ice cream and talk bout it?

YAS.

Kai shoved her phone into her denim pocket  and walked down the stairs, where her now blonde mom was sitting with a book that Kai horrifically recognized as Fifty Shades of Gray.

"Uh, me and West are going to eat ice cream."

"Are you gonna run off again?" she asked, raising her eyes to her daughter and looking at her through her reading glasses.

"Um, no."

"Okay, have fun."

Kai nodded, walking out of the house. She closed the door just as West reached her side of the side walk. "Do you remember how to get to the ice cream place?"

"Yup," Kai replied, a blow of wind making her shiver. The night air smelled of the rain that fell until an hour ago. She pulled her dark red beanie over her face, "I'm cold," she whined.

"Under any other circumstances  I would say I'm hot, but I am freezing!" West agreed, "let's pray they have heating there," he stated, grabbing his best friend's hand in his as she led the way to their favorite place in Beacon Hills.

Kai and West had no awkwardness between them; they were always close. Ever since the first day at the kindergarten, where a boy names Peter and a girl named Barbara shoved West into the sand for eating the last cookies. Kai threw sand at the girl's face while Sid jumped on the boy's back, making him fall down on the sand. While some people would look at the way they acted and thought they were dating, anyone who knew them knew it was impossible that the two would date.

Them holding hands was nothing out of the ordinary, and Anton knew it fully well.

"Anton!" Kai cheered, hugging the tall, balding man. She was practically bouncing as they conversed for a moment.

"You two are back? For good?"

"Who knows," West sighed,"but we are here to finish senior year. So, we have a few months for sure."

"So you turned the pizza place to a full-blown restaurant, yeah?" Kai noted, looking around.

"Yeah," Anton replied, his Russian accent barely noticeable. "A burger and ice cream on me, to celebrate your coming back!"

"There is really no need to," Kai dismissed his offer, West nodding in agreement, already taking out his wallet.. "We--"

"Silence," Anton disagreed, "sit down and wait," he instructed, pushing the two best friends to a spot near the window. "You still smoke?" he asked Kai.

"No," she replied, sitting down as he told her to. "I quit almost two years ago. Clean for 604 days," she put a thumb up.

"We took her money and threw the cigarettes out of the window," West stated, "she almost broke Sid's arm five times in one week."

"Yeah, well, you should have seen it coming," Kai huffed.

Anton laughed, "I'll go make the food. Talking about Sid, where is he?"

"Uh..." Kai glanced at West, "didn't Mr. and Mrs. Stonem spread the word? He was stabbed; He died."

"Wow," Anton blurted out, sitting down. "Stonem is dead? Wow. God, I am sorry. He was a good kid; once you get past the ADHD."

"Yeah," Kai agreed awkwardly. West and her spent the last few months trying to let go and not talk about Sid too much. This day was not helping with this goal.

"Anton, just so you know, we are paying."

"How about," Anton started, lips curling up. He knew fully well they hated not paying, and had a plan since the beginning. "How about the two of you sing for all of us?"

Kai turned to look at the restaurant. There was a couple of teenager girls sitting there (one eating a salad, the other munching on curly fries- the best fries according to Sid), and a young man in a deputy clothes (who was chewing a burger while staring at the street).

"Wow, a lot of people Anton," West stated sarcastically. "Yeah, I don't know."

"Besides, we don't have guitars or anything."

"I have my old guitar in the back," Anton stated cheerfully.

"Oh, um. Okay." Kai and West exchanged a glance. "I'll do drumming on a chair?" Kai offered, spreading her legs so she could drum on the chair.

"Sounds good," West shrugged. Within moments, they changed seats so they sat on the front of the restaurant, and quietly discussed what they would do. They settled for covers, under the decision that "their songs are crap" and as Anton handed West the guitar he quickly started playing an acoustic melody for Paramore's Brick by Boring Brick.

"She lives in a fairy tale, somewhere too far for us to find," Kai started.

"Forgotten the taste and smell of a world that she's left behind," West continued without a warning, making the two of them sing this line together. The surprised look on Kai's face made West and her chuckle for a moment.

Anton always enjoyed watching Teen Mutant Monsters playing because they enjoyed their singing and playing, always doing things like that; changing a certain part or barging into a line and surprising Kai.

By the end of the second song- Panic! At The Disco's Lying- Kai's hands were starting to hurt, but it was nothing comparing to the happiness of singing to Anton again.

More than their own parents, Anton was a father to the three of them. And seeing his proud smile meant the world for the two of them, after everything that happened those past few months.

As the second song ended, the two girls walked closer to the two while clapping.

"Hey, aren't you two Kai and West? Those kids that left town couple of years ago?"

"Yeah," Kai smiled brightly. "What, people still remember us?"

"Oh, yeah. Harries bitched about you all of the time, always going on about how we should study so we don't end up like you."

"Charming as always, I see," West commented, playing with a string.

"Yeah, he died," the one that ate the fries stated.

"Oh," Kai uttered out. "Well, I can't say expected him to die of old age."

"Kai!" West preeched, "it's not nice, he's dead. We should show respect."

"Respect my ass," Kai whispered too lowly for him to hear. "He was a dick and the fact he died doesn't change it."

"Hey, can you do- um- that one song by Nirvana... I forgot its name."

"Smells Like Teen Spirit?" West asked.

"Yeah!"

"Sure." Kai paused, "can we do Lithium afterwards?" She whispered.

"Hell yeah!"

The deputy has finished eating the burger by now, and pretended he was eating the friea slowly so he could listen to the two play.

The girl's voice wasn't something that stood up, and he'd bet that if there was a talent show he'd never give her a second glance.

But with the boy's playing and the smiles on their faces- it was almost kind of perfect.
