Your POV
I ran back to jitters for my coffee and donut. Well, donuts, all that running got me hungrier. As I was eating, my sister texted.
"Hey baby sis. I'm not going to be home, so I left your apartment keys underneath the front door rug. Be careful okay? Love you."
I completely forgot about my apartment. I shoved the donuts down my throat and dashed over to my sister's house to get my key, then sped over to my apartment. I opened my door and was bombarded with mess. I had clothes everywhere. I smirked and closed the door behind me. In two seconds, all my laundry was in a basket, ready for the laundry machine. I poked my head out and looked to see if anyone was around.
"Coast is clear.." I ran down to the laundry room and stopped when I saw the door was open and lights where on. Doing so, I accidentally tripped and fell inside the laundry room. As I was ready to hit the cold concrete floor, I was in someone's arms. Someone caught me.
"Hey, you okay?" That voice.. I looked up to see.. Barry???
"Um, yes, I'm fine" I chuckled. "Sorry.."
"Its no problem." He smiled at me. "Good thing I caught you."
"W-what? Caught me?? What do you mean?" Did he see me use my speed?
"I caught you from falling.... Are you sure you're okay?" He examined my face and body.
"Oh, right, yeah, yes I'm okay" I nervously laughed as I got up. I started to put my laundry back into my basket.
"Well um, the laundry machines are broken again." He said.
"All of them?" I asked, he nodded. "Great. Now I have to walk all the way to the laundromat with a heavy bag of laundry."
"No car?" I shook my head.
"Uh, no" I chuckled. "A car isn't in my budget right now." He smiled at me. Such a cute smile.
"Wow, same. Well, I can help you carry your laundry if you'd like? I'm heading there as well anyways."
I could just dash there. "Oh no its okay."
"No, no let me." He picked up reusable bag from one of the shelves and handed it to me. "I'd like to get to know my new neighbor."
"I'm not new actually, I lived here for almost two years now." I began to put my clothes in the bag.
"Wait really? How come I've never seen you around before?" He began to do the same.
"Well, I was usually always out. I work all day and night as a mechanic and during my free time I like to go racing." Should I tell him? I'm going to tell him, see his reaction. "I was also out for 9 months. Ever since the particle accelerator thing exploded, I got struck by lightning and surprisingly I'm not dead." I looked up to see him staring at me. "What?"
"H-huh? Oh... N-nothing I-I um.. " he stuttered. "that's terrible. I'm glad you're okay. How long did it take you to recover?"
"I'm not sure, I woke up and was instantly on my feet today." Did I just say that?
"What???"
I nervously chuckled. "I'm kidding Barry.. Come on I was in a coma for nine months."
"Right... How do you know my name?"
"Oh, um, you came by one day during work and asked to examine on of the cars from a crime scene. I was fixing it up." He nodded slowly.
"Oh. Oh! I remember now, you're that really pretty girl working on a super cool red car that reminded me of lightning McQueen" he laughed. "I'm so sorry for not recognizing you. What's your name again?"
"(Y/n), (y/n) (l/n)." I smiled.
"Right! (Y/n). Pretty name." I giggled. I've never had someone compliment my name.
"Thanks." I finished up. "Thanks for helping me today, Barry. I'll see you at the laundromat?"
"Hey, I still wanna help." He picked up my bag. Ugh, no, Barry the laundromat is so far away. I can't just speed there together, you gotta take me out first, jeez. I'm kidding. I just don't want him to find out I can run like him.
--
We got to the laundromat. On the way there, we chatted for a while and got to know each other. I learned his mom died when he was a kid. It was so sad. We walked in and began to do laundry.
"So your sister was the one who took care of you while you were in a coma?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yep, and apparently I died multiple times and came back." Why did you say that? He's definitely going to know if he is anything like you.
"W-wow, well I'm glad you didn't die or else I wouldn't be chatting with such a pretty girl." He grinned. I blushed.
"You didn't mean that" I chuckled.
"I did, I really did." I looked at him and he smiled. My heart was beating so fast. I then saw lights in his eyes. What was that?
Barry POV
"I did, I really did." I smiled at (y/n). I haven't stopped smiling since we started talking. How can I live in the exact same building as her and never knew until know? I stared into her eyes as my heart beat so fast.
I saw purple and white lights flash inside her eyes. I didn't mention anything. Something definitely happened to her after the particle accelerator explosion. "Do you wanna maybe get a coffee with me sometime? Or any drink really. Like wine or something, not that I want you to get drunk or anything, we could even go out for just iced tea, do you like iced tea? " I asked. She is gorgeous and amazing. Plus, she was affected that night too, so I gotta do some digging right?
"Sure, I'd love to get iced tea with you, Barry." She smiled which caused me to smile back. Awesome, not only did I get superpowers, I also got a date.
