Chapter 7: realizations

Victor, Katherine, Victoria, and Nicholas are all in the the waithing room at Genoa City Memorial Hopital waithing to hear news on Nikki.

"I have never seen him like this." said Victoria to Nicholas and Katherine as they watch Victor walk back and forth across the waiting room. "Dad has been worried before but has always handled it well, but this time it seems like it's just eating him alive." said Nicholas said very worried. Katherine,without a word, gets up and walks over to Victor, as he is still pacing the room. She puts her hand on his shoulder and says "She will be just fine Victor, and so will the baby."" I'm trying with everything in me to believe that." "Katherine I should have never brought her to Newman with me,""Why do you say that?" "Newman is full of stress, and that is an atmosphere she should have never been in." "You heard the doctor when he said the polyp rupturing was most likely due to stress. "Yes Victor, but Newman is a big part of her life." "That's about to change," said Victor in a mysterious mood. "What do you mean." "I know where my priorities stand at this point." "And by priorities you mean Nikki and the baby?" "Yes Katherine, and I put Newman ahead of their well being." "So what does this mean?" "It means I will remain owner of Newman Enterprises, but will step down as CEO, and Nicholas will be head CEO.""He ,of course, will confer with me but I will work from home." "I think Nikki will like that very much." "Yeah she has been trying to convince me of it for years." As they are talking Dr. Stound walks in the waiting room and says Mrs. Newman and the baby made it through surgery without any complications. They all say in unison thank God. Dr. Stound says she would like to see you Mr. Newman.I'll take you to her room. "Thanks doc," says Victor

Katherine, Victoria, and Nick let Victor go alone knowing he needs this right now.Katherine says "Your little brother or sister has changed your father more than either of you realize." "How so?" "Victor is giving Nick his head CEO title.""He plans on working from home, to spend all his time taking care of your mother." "That's great." "I'm so happy for them." Victors walks in Nikki's hospital room, and immediately runs to hug her and gives her a tender kiss "How are you feeling?" "I feel so relieved and grateful that the baby is ok." " You know Dr. Stound said we could find out the baby's gender anytime now." "Thats great, but I just want you to know that I am sorry for all this you have had to go through." Victor its not your fault, Nikki said putting her hand on his cheek. But sweetheart it is, I shouldn't have taken you to a place as stressful as Newman. In fact I have decided to rid Newman of yours and my life significantly. What do you mean? I am giving Nicholas my Ceo title however will remain owner, but will work from home. Really?! I know its something you have wanted. You've made me so happy. Have I? I want to be home with you and take care of you, you and the baby are my top priority, and to rid your life of stress I have to first rid mine. I love you so much. I love you my darling and I love you Victor jr, Victor says as he puts his hand on her stomach. Nikki puts her hand on top of his as they feel their baby kick for the first time.

Nick, Victoria, and Katherine walk in see them, and all smile. Well I see your feeling better, Katherine says. Yes much better Nikki says as Victor kisses her hand.

After about an hour of small talk, Victor tells Nick he will do great as the new ceo, then they all leave after several I love you's and goodbyes. Victor says "why dont I call Dr. Stound to do your ultrasound tonight?" Are you sure? Of course I am. Ok lets do it. Victor calls him and sets the while thing up. Dr. Stound arrives and begins prepping Nikki for the ultrasound. The ultrasound begins as Victor is right beside Nikki holding her hand the entire time. Dr. Stound says the baby is healthy, and is a particularly over average baby. What does that mean, asked Victor. It means you are only 4 1/2 months pregnant and the baby already weighs a pound and 3 ounces, while the average baby would only weigh about 8 ounces. Is that bad? Said Nikki Not at all It means you are going to have a rather big baby, Nikki smiles at Victor and he smiles back. Now for the gender, Victor and Nikki's hearts begins to race, it seems you are having a boy. Victor and Nikki both are beaming at each other, as Victor gives Nikki a tender kiss, and says I love you.
