La Vie en Rose

It was a Saturday afternoon in the Jones residence, Betty sat downstairs playing the piano while her husband was upstairs playing with their new daughter Elise. Playing the piano was a little sanctuary away from her month old daughter, Betty loves her daughter more than anything but she just wanted some quiet time. Her sweet, honey-like voice accompanied her playing as she closed her eyes and sighed. Her whole body ached from the long nights and the fact she was pregnant with their child for 9 months. She could hear her husband upstairs, "please don't cry my gorgeous Ellie, let's go and see your mummy" he gently walked down the stairs holding a tiny human being. He sat down next to her on the piano stool and gently rocked their child, "would she not settle?" Betty asked running the back of her finger along her daughter's cheek, "no" he whispered. Betty started singing again hoping to settle her child, her daughter's eyes started to drop.

Jughead gently rocked their child to sleep, "she just needed her mummy" Jughead whispered placing a kiss on Betty's cheek. Betty rested her head on Jughead's shoulder "she's so beautiful" Betty said smiling "she's just like you" he replied kissing the top of her head, "not anymore, my stomach is all flabby and stretched, I cry all the time, I'm not me anymore" a tear rolled down her cheek, "I love you, Betty, you've had a child, our child. You are just as beautiful even more beautiful. You're the love of my life Betty Jones never forget that" he kissed her. He gently carried Elise up to their room placing her down in her crib before they got into bed, "it's only 10 o'clock in the morning Jug!" she exclaimed, "isn't there something in a book that says while your baby's sleeping so should you" she giggled "you read my pregnancy books?" she asked, "I couldn't sleep one night" he whispered smiling. She snuggled into his side sighing "I love you, Romeo" she whispered falling asleep, "I love you too, Juliet".
