"Jesus." The boy beside me exhaled dramatically and quite suddenly. Of course my sleep had to be disrupted by that.

"Well, that was a bit sudden," I commented, rubbing the sleep from seconds ago out of my tired eyes.

"Oh, hey." My companion whispered. "Did I wake you?"

"Kinda, but it's okay," I answered as I yawned. "What was with the dramatic sigh?"

Before he answered, the blond-haired blue-eyed boy shifted closer to my spot in the bed and gently pressed his lips to my forehead. The metal loop on his lip felt cold against my skin, so I shivered just a bit. "One, sorry to wake you. Two, I was just thinking about things." He answered before scooting back into his original place.
"Thinking? About what?" I asked, now propping myself up on my elbows so I could keep my focus on him.

"Oh, you know, the usual," was what he responded with, eyes glued to the ceiling above us. I pouted.

"No, I don't know the usual. I never know what you think about." I complained.

"Boo hoo," he answered, a small smile playing on his lips as his eyes were still glued to the ceiling.

"Luke," I whined.

He turned his head to look at me, a fake pout now covering his lips. "Codie," he mimicked.

"Tell me what you were thinking about, you asshole." I reached out and poked his cheek repeatedly.

"I will if you'd stop harassing my cheek, thank you very much," Luke said and swatted my hand away.

"Tell me," I urged, now completely sitting up. I crossed my arms over my chest and puffed out my cheeks, along with furrowing my eyebrows.

"I was thinking about us," Luke answered, finally. He let out a little laugh at my face. "Stop that, you look like a monkey."

I had my face return to its normal look and then tipped my head at Luke. "Us?" I echoed.

"Yeah, like, how much we've overcome."

"Aww," I cooed.

"I'm so fucking glad I fucked up your store's cookies," Luke chuckled, running a few fingers through his bed hair.

"I'm glad I didn't let Mel clean them up for me," I added, lying back down.

Luke turned his head to me, and with the faint moonlight seeping through the windows, I could tell that a huge smile was taking over his face. "I literally love you so much."

I couldn't help but let a big smile take over my face, my stomach fluttering. After nine years with each other, those words coming from him still made me feel all nervous.

"I love you more than that, dumbass," I said.

"No way." He wrapped his strong arms around my waist and pulled my closer to him, allowing me to bury my head in his broad chest.

"We should totally get married in that aisle," Luke whispered with a soft laugh.

"Definitely," I responded sleepily before drifting off back to sleep.
