Her Piano

Eunji threw her canvas bag on the floor of her apartment as she sat down on her bed looking up at the ceiling. She was wondering which song she should do for her Thursday "Piano Playing Gig" when that boy from the Café popped up into her mind. He was quite an interesting person and it was making Eunji want to know more about Jae. She wondered if he was thinking about her this way. She thought about it as she tossed the pencil she had grabbed off  her desk her hand in the air. She fumbled for a bit as she realized that he would probably never ever think about her and just saw her as some weird random girl in the Café. The pencil fell out of her grip and landed on the floor next to her bed. Eunji groaned and got up off her bed and picked up the pencil and in frustration ended up just throwing it across the room again. She was annoyed with herself for her brain bringing up the topic of Jae up again and again. 'Whatever I'm sure my brain is just being annoying like usual' Eunji shrugged it off and tried to ignore her thoughts for the rest of the cold week. She had a lot of things to do instead of just thinking about some boy at a coffee shop.

      At last, Thursday was here! The day that Jae had been waiting for since Monday, the day he had that conversation with the unusual girl who sparked his interest. He had listened to her playing at the Café but hadn't really paid that much attention to it before as he had been worrying about other things in his life that had been concerning him lately. Jae slid his jacket on and tossed his scarf around his neck and headed outside in the direction of the Café looking at the frozen over trees and light snow falling down and into landing onto eyelashes. Jae had been shielded from many of the things in the outside world by his parents and was entranced by the beauty of the winter. Eunji, who was also going this way spotted Jae and walked over to him.

Eunji: Never seen snow before?
Eunji giggled slightly at Jae's astounded face staring up at the sky and snow falling down from the sky.
Jae: No..I never knew winter was this beautiful... I've seen pictures but I didn't know it was this amazing.
Eunji: Haha where are you from?
Jae: I'm from here, just like you, Korea.
Eunji raised raised an eyebrow at Jae not believing that he had never really seen snow before if he was from Korea.
Eunji: Are you sure?? I mean.. You haven't ever seen snow before?
Jae: Nope! My parents wouldn't let me go outside.
Eunji looked surprised but she didn't say anything about the snow after that. Jae was glad since his parents was a sensitive subject and he didn't like talking about them much.  Eunji kicked a tiny pebble as she was thinking of things to talk about with Jae.
But she didn't need to think if anything because they had reached the quaint Café already. Eunji opened the door and the tiny bell rang and the owner welcomed the pair back.

Owner (Seokjin): Hey Eunji! Hi Jae! Nice to see you both again!! 
Eunji smiled at Seokjin.
Eunji: You too Mr. Kim!! So when should I start playing today?
Seokjin: The usual time, whenever you're comfortable with it.
Eunji walked up to the piano and sat down. She breathed in as she looked around the Café and saw a few more people in here than usual on a Thursday. She pressed her fingers down on the ivory keys and Jae was quite surprised. He knew she was good but he didn't know she was this good! She put a lot of emotion through her playing, as if she was telling the piano her feelings and thoughts. Jae listened carefully to her playing and loved the way how it flowed calmly in and out. He admired her playing and wondered if one day they could play together. He smiled and leaned back in the chair he had claimed earlier when they entered the Café. Jae hadn't noticed it before but Eunji looked calmer when she was playing the piano.  Jae's breath caught.  She looked so ethereal there playing the piano like that. Jae shook off the feelings knowing he shouldn't be feelings this way since they had just met. But he couldn't help looking at her once more before he took a napkin from one of the tables and took his trusty pen he always had on him and wrote 'xxx-xxx-xxxx my phone number ;) - Your bestie Jae'
he put it next to Eunji who noticed him, but didn't look up, too focused on playing. After that he left the Café done with the day already. He was really curious about Eunji and wanted to know more about her and hoped she wasn't like all the girls that he had dated in the past for a very short period of time. (The ones who had cheated on him and stabbed him in the back and turned out to be extremely fake.) Jae smiled to himself as he took the longer route home to think about things...Eunji...She had been very mistaken when she assumed Jae wouldn't be thinking about her too..
