Chapter 4 - Finding our friends

Akako's POV

I wake up and get read for the day, putting my hair up in pigtails like Mikan-nee. I brush my teeth and head down to breakfast after meeting up with Natsume and Ruka; we eat as we normally do, with me annoying Natsume and chatting with Ruka.

"Akako-chan... Do you think they're back yet?" Ruka asks, making me falter, stopping to think.
Mia-nee and Agata-chan have not returned since Mia went to go look for her.

Sawako never turned up after she ran away and Mikan-nee returned to the classroom after helping Mia-nee look for Agata-chan. We stayed up all night, waiting for Mia-nee to come back to my room safe and sound. She never did.

Today is the third day that she won't be here, and Naru keeps saying that they're trying with all their might to find them. I think I scared him when I shouted at him, I flinch as I recall when it happened.

Mikan-nee and I were standing in front of Narumi, Jinno, Misaki, and Serina. I had tears in my eyes as we look at them, Narumi runs a hand through his hair in frustration. "We'll do everything in our power to locate Mia-chan and Sawako-chan."

"Let us help! We could start to search near th-!" Jinno-Sensei cuts me off with a sharp look, "You will do no such thing!"

I flinch back at his harsh voice and tighten my grip on Mikan-nee.

"Jinno-san, they're just worried. They are kittens that have lost their mother figure sibling." Narumi shakes his head. "Mikan-chan, Akako-chan, Please return to class. Let us handle this."

Mikan nods, but I stare at Narumi-Sensei. "Go ahead, Nee-chan." Mikan was so sad and worried for Mia-nee that she doesn't even stop to question me, 'Good....'

Mikan-chan leaves the room and all of the teachers go quiet, "Is that why you won't let me go look for her? Because you need to keep everyone thinking that I'm a small girl who's timid and weak?" I glare at all of them.

"Sakura-chan, y-." I ignore Misaki-Sensei and keep giving them accusing looks, "Don't use my personality and morals as a disguise for me! They're a part of who I am, but they don't make me weak and helpless! I want to look for Mia-nee! I'm a good student and follow the rules, it wouldn't hurt me to miss one d-!"

"You break the rules when it comes to those that you favor. Where are your morals when your sisters or friends are lectured?" Jinno-Sensei asks, trying to stop my rampage.

"I wouldn't stand up for them if you didn't punish them unfairly! I respect you, Sensei, but there are times when you make me question your reasons for teaching. You make it seem as though you are just a teacher so that you can have some sort of power!" I shout and run towards the door.

"Akako-chan!" Narumi comes to me and grabs my arm, but I yank away from him, "Leave me alone!" I run out the doors.

"I don't know..." I sigh and continue to eat my food. Since I snapped at the teachers, I have apologized but I am still upset with them.

We finish and leave the cafeteria before anyone else comes to eat, we then head to the classroom to wait for the rest of our classmates to get here. As I'm sitting there, I have a sudden idea. I've looked almost everywhere on school grounds except for one place...

I start thinking up of excuses that I could tell the teachers so that they won't suspect anything, but it proves to be harder than I anticipated.

'Wait... I always do weird and crazy things, they won't get suspicious if I tell them something odd!' I roll my eyes at myself and stand, everyone that has been in the classroom looks at me when I start to walk away. I stop and shrug at them, "I wanna go lay down, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night."
