Mia's POV"Akako?!" I exclaim in pure shock after seeing our youngest sister before my eyes. It was as if I'd become a statue, incapable of moving or speaking but my gaze didn't stray from the petite figure of Akako. She's covered in a white powder, but you can see her bright blue eyes and shining smile under all the white that's blanketing her.
"Ohayo, Onee-Chan!" She greets cheerfully, her smile is as dazzling as Mikan's.
Tears begin to well up in my eyes as I take one step forward. "A-...Akako." I stammer on my words. The moment she smiled, I knew that the person in front of me was really her. Quickening my steps, I run to her aid and engulf my dear little sister into a hug. One that I couldn't give to her in such a long time.
"Geez, don't cry, Onee-Chan!" Akako comforts me and I can feel how her small arms wrap themselves around my waist. I knew it was weird as to why Akako didn't send us letters for years, she wouldn't do something like that to us. She wouldn't leave us without any trace for no specific reason.
"Here, Mia-nee, have some pocky! It will definitely cheer you up!" Akako exclaims and places a pocky into my mouth. Cracking into a chuckle, I pat the little girls head, relieved to know she's still so cheerful and lovable. "I'm already cheered up enough." I utter, smiling at Akako.
'My smile blooms for the two of you. Mikan, Akako.'
After settling in and all, the three of us sat down in Akako's room to catch up for the times we weren't together.
"Hold on one second! I need to brush my teeth!" Akako exclaims as she scrambled off the bed and runs to the bathroom. A chuckle left my lips after witnessing her running like the child she is. I wish she will stay that way for a long time. Resting my gaze on Mikan, who has fallen asleep, rather than sleeping on a gigantic, cold bed alone, this moment is more than perfect.
I lean my back against the backboard, waiting for Akako to get out from the bathroom since she's taking quite a long time just to brush her teeth. Getting off the bed, I decide to check on that little sister of mine.
'Did she fall asleep while brushing her teeth or what?'
Before my hand could reach the doorknob, I heard a groan coming from inside the bathroom. 'Akako? Is she not feeling well?'
Eavesdropping is a bad habit of mine, but I don't have a care right now. Leaning my ear against the door, I try listening to the groan again. "Agh, it hurts..." Akako's voice rang out loud and clear to me as my eyes widen.
"I can't let Mia-nee and Mikan-nee know about this." I gasp at the words that Akako mutters to herself. At her words, color begins to drain from my face. I knew my instinct can be trusted, something is wrong with this academy.
Leaning my back against the wall next to the door of the bathroom, I lower my head and stare at my feet in misery. A cloud of guilt begins to surround me, it envelopes me more and more every time I hear Akako wince in pain.
"I'm such an awful sister..." I mutter under my breath.
'Refusing to share your pain with others and continuously blinding us with your luminous smile, you're so strong Akako.
.... Yet... I wish you weren't.''If you don't want me or Mikan to know about this, then I will do it my own way. I'm not going to let you be alone in the darkness anymore'
Realizing that she's almost done, I quickly make my way back to the bed and crawl under the blanket. Akako walks back into the room, switching off the lights before coming to lay next to me. She flashes me her smile and lays her small body down next to me since I'm laying in between them. Mikan has long since been asleep while it takes Akako a little longer to fall asleep.
