Natsu had just stared out the window as he saw his friends leave, he had felt a little desire to go with them but he sighed. He couldn't leave Ares, especially now that Ares needed him more than ever. He walked to where Ares had been and saw that he had also been sitting by his window.
He seemed distracted and distant as he looked at the faded pink clouds in the sky.
"Ares." Natsu said making Ares jump a bit. "Oh hey." Ares smiled a bit. "They left." Natsu mumbled.
"I know." Ares replied in a monotone.
"I'm sorry, man." Natsu sighed, "for everything..."
"It's okay." Ares sighed, "it's not your fault."
"What's up between you and Riley." Natsu asked a bit nervous on how Ares would react. Though Ares just stiffened and cleared his throat, "We had a fight, I guess you would say...."
"About what?" Natsu pressed him a bit.
"It's her fault!" Ares suddenly had an outburst, "She-She was the one who decided to randomly appear and at the ball Sophia just showed up and started making out with me in front of Riley! I didn't know what to do! I was so nervous on what Riley would say, and then she ran off. Her last words were..." He sighed remembering the harsh words in his head, "You'll regret this your majesty...."
"Whoa." Natsu blinked surprised, "she sounds pretty serious."
"Yeah she was." He replied glumly as Natsu nodded, "Just miscommunication was all it was. Did you tell her it was her fault?"
Ares sighed guiltily, not wanting to admit it but said, "Yes, I did actually."
Natsu nodded mutely as he contemplated the situation. It sounded pretty complicated as he looked up, "What are you going to do about it?" Ares just shook his head, "I don't know... You know, I don't even know why these people chose me to be King! I don't know what they were even thinking... I'm not even worthy for this duty..." He slumped down putting his face in his palms in stress.
Natsu frowned and put his shoulders up, pushing Ares chest, "What did you say?!" Ares almost fell over with the push and looked up a bit surprised and annoyed, "I said I'm not worthy to be King." "What!? Natsu shouted in his face.
"I AM, umming, I AM NOT WORTHY TO BE KING!" Ares shouted back but then realized how silly it was.
"The gods chose you to be the King, Ares. And it was for a reason. So shut up and stop being a girl about it." Natsu told him firmly as Ares nodded feeling a little more confident.
"So who's King around here?" Natsu tested him one more time. Ares smiled, squaring his shoulders upright, and chin high, "I am."
"Who?" Natsu kidded. "I AM!" Ares shouted in his face. Natsu laughed as they did their secret handshake they did ever since they were a kid. "It's good to have you back, your majesty." Natsu smiled proudly and bowed, "now what are you going to do?"
"Well..." Ares got up and went into a big room as Natsu followed. He pressed a button as a large map of their world appeared. He then touched the small orb and zoomed it into Nain, close to his kingdom.
"I was thinking of setting troops around the castle, rumors are going around that the castle is Firion's main target. We'll keep troops in the city in the most popular areas to pacify rebellions that usually Firion starts. Though I have a feeling they are going to be even bigger this time with more recruits and more tension. We have spies that have entered Firion's army to enlist, to keep an eye on their progress, and see what his main goal is."
"We'll hold him off for a while and when the time is right." He slammed his fist into the machine, "We'll crush them with underground armies we have hidden in the forest and in the cities."
