Ari's POV
The bell rang at exactly 2:40...
Summer time.
I grabbed my bags and followed the big crowd of people down the hallway and out the big double doors. Mitch said he would meet me at his car, which he did. When I spot him in the parking lot my face turns bright and I can feel my eyes squint and my smile grows wider. I wave in his direction and he waves back.
I jolt toward but it's not my doing. It's the crowd of joy-filled university students. I then walk towards the parking lot, towards Mitch. He is leaning on the side of his car when I get there.
"Hey Cutie," he says. He has the biggest grin on his face.
"Hey Babe," I respond. "I'm ready when you are." Over the fall, we planned to go on vacation to the beach for our two year anniversary.
Mitch and I met one summer at an ice cream store. We both worked there. When I first met him I thought he was a douche. Turns out he was just shy. We talked for hours and he told me about the Mets, his friends back home, and his dad. Later in our relationship he told me about his mom and how she died from  Frontotempral Dementia. Then I told him about my parents. They died in a car crash when I was only five years old. I grew up with my nana.
We drive for what seems like hours and I eventually fall asleep. It feels like only a few minutes after I fall asleep, I wake up. I know it hasn't been minutes because it is now dark out and the car has come to a complete stop. Then it hits me that what woke me up was the car slamming on the brakes. There is a hand holding me back by my chest. Mitch.
"What the hell..." I rub my eyes to help me adjust to the light faster. Mitch turns on his bright lights and in front of the car is a tall figure bent over at the stomach. It raises up and stands taller than it was before. A red glow forms where the eyes of the figure should be. Mitch rolls down his window and shouts out a name. A very familiar name.
     "Scott?"
