Richie's pov

After a long ass drive of 5 hours. We finally made it to California. I rolled down the window and peaked my head out as I saw the huge Hollywood sigh. I took a deep breath in as I smelt the oceans saltiness and some weed.

I texted Eddie right when I got there, I made it!

I looked at my phone and smiled. I played out our last moment holding hands and us kissing in my head and looked out the window sadly.

We finally got my mom's house, we both decided to put my stuff up later and just look around. She had a beach house, her house was about 5 minutes away from the beach. Her house wasn't that big but quite cute and aesthetic.

We she led me to my room, I liked it. It was bigger then her room and a bed was already placed.

"This was a guest bedroom, but it's yours now", she said while smiling.
"Oh cool, can we go ahead and get all the boxes?", I asked as I looked around.
"Yeah!", Maggie replied.

I turned and looked at Maggie as she stood there leaning her side to the door frame. She was crossing her arm and she had a kind smile on her face.

"What?", I said as I giggled.
"It's just- it's been a long time..I'm sorry Richie. I've made some bad decisions that impacted you in a bad way. So I'm sorry Richie", Maggie said.
"It's ok mom", I said as I pulled her into a hug.

She hugged back and pulled away and looked at me. "I'm so proud of you".
I smiled at her and she kissed me on the cheek, "ok let's go unpack your shit", she said as she laughed a little.

I laughed and nodded. We both carried boxes one by one up into my room. The weather was hot, I wasn't used to it. The weather at Derry was chilly but in California it was quite warm.

There was more boxes then I thought there was and sweat beads formed on my forehead. My black shirt wasn't doing an justice for me, so I took of off and tucked it into the front of my jeans.

After loads of boxes, unpacking and setting everything up. I was exhausted.

The cold air conditioning felt great. I laid on bed and pushed the sweaty mess of hair out of my face.

Dylan's pov

It's a hot day here in California. This morning I went surfing, the waves were huge. It felt like that almost swallowed me. Sadie couldn't come out today, her mom said she was sick and she had the flu. Sucks for her, the waves were great.

After surfing, I went into my car and drove back to my house. As I drove I stuck my hand out the window and moved in a wave motion. The weather here was the best. I loved really hot days.

As I pulled in, my neighbor Maggie was unloading stuff from her car. Then a boy-what it looked like my age- walked out the front. I laid my head on my palm of my hand as I observed him. He wore all black, bad decision, I thought as I chuckled a bit.

He was clearly not from here. I could tell in his appearance. First off the black clothes and how he was so white.

I haven't seen his face yet, all I've seen was his back. But just from the looks from it, he looked muscular. His back muscles were present as he carried the boxes.

Finally I got a look of his face. He was...beautiful. His messy hair and his face..oh my. I bit my lip without noticing and at that point I decided to go and put my stuff up.

I got out of my car and carried my surfboard over my shoulder. The mysterious boy was not outside at the time. I figured that finished.

I walked inside, said hi to my mom and went to my room. It was a Saturday afternoon and I had nothing to do. I decided to change into some sweatpants and take a nap.

Richie's pov

I didn't even realize i feel asleep. I looked at time and it was 11 pm. There was no way I could fall back asleep, so I decided to grab my weed from the bottom of my boxes and go to the beach.

As I pulled out, I kept thinking about Eddie. I missed him already. I put on some slow alternative music to make me feel better.

The night air was warm. The city was loud but where Maggie lived everything was quiet. As I got to beach, I removed my shoes and slowly walked to a empty chair. The blunt was in between my middle finger and my index finger.

I sat down the chair and lit the end of the blunt with my lighter. I inhaled and exhaled a cloud of smoke as I watched the waves rise up and down.

After a few minutes of that I pulled out my phone and texted Eddie.

I smiled at my phone then put it down. I smoked some more and then laid back in my chair. I stared at the sky as stars shined brightly. It was dark but the only light that was present was moonlight.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned. It's been a long day, I closed my eyes and I felt so empty. There was no thought in my mind, and I felt like I was the only one on the planet.

California is great in all, but I missed Eddie, I missed my home, but I was happy to be away from my dad. He was a real nightmare.

The more thoughts came into my head the more tired I got. I yawned one last time and I passed out.
