A month later
It didn’t stop, you thought it would but it never did. It was the same routine every other night. He would get drunk off his ass, come home either be pissed at you for talking to someone or not listening to him. The bruises were getting harder to hide, but so was the pain.
You woke up each morning, went to your college classes and worked your shift at Nando’s. The gladly re-hired you as soon as you got back from the USA. Each day was th same routine, it was a blur.
“Shelby? Shelby!” Celia yelled.
“Huh….Oh I’m sorry Celia!” You got the food and took out the order to the customers.
She knew how James treated you; she hated him with all her guts. She found the bruises on your arm about two weeks back. You think she was more upset about you not telling her about the whole situation. About how, you’ve tried leaving James and he just would rip you back and be his charming self in the morning. It made you sick having to be with him, but you felt like you had no other choice.
You went about the day carrying out and making orders, it was Saturday so you had to work late. You hated working at Nando’s it reminded you of the day Niall saved you from everything you lost. Niall, saved you in every way humanly possible, and you walked away without a fight. The feeling you got when he told you the spark in your relationship was gone you felt like your whole world fell apart.
It was 7PM, only two hours till closing.
“You can go early Shelby.” Celia suggested.
You started to take off your apron, “You sure?”
She smiled, “Of course, go out tonight! You deserve it!”
She gave you your paycheck.
“I thought we don’t get these till Monday?” You asked.
“You have tomorrow off so I thought I’d give it to you early!” She smiled again and hugged you.
You thanked her, clocked out, and waved good bye to everyone. You got out the door and walked to your car. You heard something drop so you turned around to pick it up it was your employee card. But a boy was bent over already picking it up, he handed it to you.
“Oh thank you!” You grabbed it and put it in your purse. You looked up to smile, but your smile turned into a stunned look.
The boy had a blond quiff, braces and his blue eyes twinkled in the light. You couldn’t move. It was Niall.
“Your welcome Shelby.” He smiled weakly. You turned around quickly and got in your car.
You hit the steering wheel, and screamed, “Oh my god Shelby! He was right there, why didn’t you do anything?!”
You kept hitting the steering wheel; you started the car and cried the whole car ride. You drove around for two hours and pulled to the side of the rode and broke down even more. He was there and you walked away just like you did back in America. You took out your phone and dialed a number.
“Hello?”
“Hey Jordyn…Are you still in London?”
“Yeah babe, what’s wrong?”
“Where do you live? I need you.”
“Harry and I live downtown on Eleanor. We’re in 2113.”
“Okay, I’ll be there in 20 minutes.”
“Okay, are you okay?”
“I ran into Niall.”
You pulled out and began driving.
“Oh no did he say anything?”
“Yeah he picked up my employees card, just like he did when we first met.”
“Oh…”
“Yeah but we’ll talk about it when I get there. I love you bye!”
“I love you too see you soon!”
You hung up and began to drive. You looked in your glove box for your iPhone to listen to your music. You saw something fell out, you came to a stop light and picked it up from the ground. You lifted it up and it sparkled under the moonlight. It was the bracelet Niall got you. It was in perfect shape, the four leaf clover, the date Niall and you made it official September 17th, and the last charm was a heart with the engraving in it, “Near or far my heart will always be yours.” You read it out loud over and over again.
You sat the bracelet in the passenger seat. You kept driving and looking at it ever so often. Just seeing that again made you think about how much you missed Niall. You knew you missed him a lot, but seeing that and the memories of your dad, moving to Ireland, and Lady and Tramp all flooded back to your mind.
You got to Harry and Jordyn’s house and sat in the car for a couple of minutes, you took the bracelet off the passenger seat. You stared at it for a few seconds and put it on.
You spoke to yourself, “My heart will always be yours.”
