As June grew nearer, Alex got more nervous as everyday went by. Why? He going to come out to his friends and family in June. Alex had already planned to go to a pride parade in June, where he would (hopefully) wear a rainbow pride flag like a cape, hanging off the back of his white jumper, flowing in the wind. The wait was terrifying, as he had been procrastinating for 7 days now.
As Alex got out of bed and took a shower, he put on a rainbow jumper under a black jacket and put on some of the skinniest skinny jeans you will ever see. He then brushed his teeth, and after combing his hair to perfection, he walked to Denis' room, shaking the entire way.
As he got to the door, he was shaking like crazy. I can't believe I'm about to do it.... What is he going to think?! He thought.
He knocked gently.
"Come in!" Denis' voice sounded from the other side of the door. Alex calmed himself down, unzipped his jacket, and with a rush of determination, he flung the door open.
He immediately walked away after that. I'm not ready.... not ready.... I'm NOT ready. He's just going to say I'm a gross monster that deserves to burn in the pits of hell....
"Alex? Are you over here?" Denis said down the hall.
Alex didn't make a peep, closing his eyes tight so that he wouldn't think about opening them and facing Denis, who was now crouching in front of him.
I must look pathetic. I'm curled up in a ball and not even daring to bat an eye at him. He must think I'm so rude.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?" Denis whispered softly to me. "You don't have to hide away your feelings like this Alex. I will always accept you no matter your shape or form."
And with that, Alex knew that he was safe telling Denis his secret.
"I'm gay."
