This morning Taehyung had woken up to an empty bed, his hand stretching out to grasp at your figure and instead meeting cold sheets. His heart had sunk at the idea of being left alone again, and rolled around on the bed wondering why you'd managed to sneak into his heart just like you'd done his tower.
Slowly he sat up and shuffled into the main room, "why is there a packed bag next to the balcony?" Taehyung asked, standing wrapped in the bed sheet watching as you packed food into your satchel and turned to smile at him.
He knew the answer already; you were leaving.
"Don't go without me," he whispered and you glanced up, wondering if you had finally managed to break his mentality, and when Taehyung stamped his foot on the ground to get your attention, you were sure you had done it. "Take me with you!" He shouted, recoiling slightly in surprise at the volume of his voice in the usually quiet tower.
"The bonfire is in a week," you replied, walking towards the balcony and sitting next to his bag as you looked at him expectedly, "it's now or never Tae." His large eyes blinked before he nodded slowly, walking to his room before returning in a few minutes wearing clothes and a dazed expression.
Taehyung walked slowly towards you, and you smiled at him, bouncing up to give him a hug, "let's get going!" As you climbed over the railings you grinned at him, grabbing the rope and leaning forward on the tips of your toes to press a kiss against Taehyung's lips.
His hands wove into your hair, moving his lips gently against yours before pulling away and pressing a firm kiss to your forehead, "you make me feel so confident." Before you could say anything in reply, you covered gripped the rope and began to abseil down the side of the tower. It was a poignant moment, feet scraping the uneven bricks for the last time because Taehyung would be returned and you would collect your bounty.
You were letting him go because you had been abandoned continually, and your heart had hardened to the point of being unable to let people close to it. Yet, Taehyung was sneaking dangerously close to your heart, his kisses so childish and passionate, conveying every feeling as if it was a truth serum.
So when your feet touched the floor and you shouted up to him to start coming down, you knew he would. His kiss had not been one of goodbye, but one that held promise and fear, the two things he would be feeling as you watched him grab onto that rope and begin moving down the tower.
The morning mist was beginning to fade away from the sun and droplets of dew rested on long sheaths of grass and colourful petals of wild flowers, it was beautiful and you knew Taehyung would be grateful that he left.
"Help!" Taehyung yelped, voice sounding pinched and you turned to look at him, eyes widening in surprise as he dangled at the end of the rope, as if scared to place his feet on the grass. Then fixing you with a stare, he placed his bare feet on the wet grass, eyes widening in surprise as he moved his toes enjoying the tickle of the blades beneath his feet, "i-it's better than I remembered."
His eyes welled with tears as he fell forward onto his hands and you watched as he fisted his hands in the grass, glancing up at you as if to confirm what he was seeing was real, "this is beautiful, thank you."
Taehyung stood up slowly and tackled you into a hug, laughing as you patted him awkwardly on the back, "we should get going," you mumbled. Trying to pull away with the knowledge that with every touch you were encouraging your feelings for him and that it would be impossible to say goodbye.
But Taehyung wouldn't let you go, and as you felt warm tears drip onto your shoulder, "thank you," he whispered before squeezing you once more and then wiping at his face he managed a watery smile at you, "lead the way."
