~ONE~
"Toothbrush?"
"Check."
"Toilet paper?"
"Check."
"Three flashlights?"
"Check."
"Batter-"
"Mom I've gone over my list at least ten times already, I am not missing anything." I sigh, not being able to wait till tomorrow morning comes. My mom has been on my back since the day we got our letters for this trip. I guess she's just doing her job in making sure I have everything I need before I leave, which is understandable if I hadn't already checked the list ten times.
"Honey it's better to be safe then sorry, you know your going to be thousands of miles away from home so it's my duty to make sure your all set for this trip." She argues back which makes me groan and fall back on my bed.
My mom walked out of my room so I decided to Skype call my five best friends. There's Deirdre, Logan, Todd, Cassandra and Brody.
Deirdre and Logan are boyfriend/girlfriend. They have been going out for five months now and are inseparable. Cassandra and Brody are twins. Todd is a year older than all of us. He's also Cassandra and Brody's older brother.
I opened my laptop and clicked on the Skype icon and opened up the three way video chat. (Don't know if this exists so I just made it up)
The first one to answer was Todd.
"Hey." I smiled and waved when I seen his face on my screen.
"Yo Winnie, all packed up?" He asks.
"Yep, all ready." I reply back cheerfully.
Just then Deirdre and Logan popped up on my screen.
"Hey." Deirdre waved happily. "Oooh baby, shirtless reow."
I didn't know what she meant until I looked at the top right box where Logan's video was and saw he was shirtless.
"Hey guys." He waves. It looks like he's just come out of the shower because he has a towel wrapped around his waist.
"Where's Brody and Cassandra?" Deirdre asked Todd.
"Right here." They both answered simultaneously as they popped up beside Todd.
"Great, now that your all on, what time are we meeting at school tomorrow?" I asked.
"Mr. Pine said everyone should be at school an hour early so they can go over everything." Logan answered.
Mr. Pine, Mr. Holt and Mrs. Drew are the teachers who are in charge of our year. There also the ones who organised this trip so I gotta put a reminder to thank them on the checklist since I've wanted an excuse to leave home for a while now.
"Can't wait!" Cassandra exclaims excitedly.
"Ow!" Todd covers his ears. "Speak lower you just permanently damaged my ear!" He whined.
"Suck it up you big baby." Cassandra teased.
"Honey dinners ready." I heard my mom call from downstairs.
"Sorry guys I gotta go now, I'll see you all tomorrow." I waved at my five friends.
"Bye." They all said simultaneously.
I closed my laptop and jumped off the bed and ran downstairs. As soon as I entered the kitchen I smelt the amazing smell of lasagne. There was also garlic bread and salad.
I sat down opposite my two brothers. They were also accompanying us on the camping trip. Jacob who's sixteen and Paul who's eighteen. I'm seventeen by the way.
"Who were you talking to?" My dad inquired as soon as he swallowed his food.
"My friends." I reply back as I cut myself a piece of this delicious looking lasagne. That's probably the only thing I'm going to miss about home is moms food. Well she is a chef so of course her food has to be amazing. My dad is a Vet. He works at the local animal hospital just a few blocks away from here.
Another reason why I'm going to miss home is because my little chihuahua isn't allowed to come on this camping trip. I wish she were allowed because I figured we'd have so much fun together since we'll be outdoors but the stupid teachers won't allow it.
"Jacob did you finish packaging?" My mom asks and I start laughing because now it's my brothers turn to get tormented.
Jacob glared at me before turning his attention back to mom. "Yeah I'm all set."
"Ok I'll come up after dinner and make sure you've packed everything." Mom told him and I was trying to refrain myself from laughing again because I saw Jacobs annoyed face. I caught Paul wearing the same face expression as mine.
Don't worry Paul, your next, I thought to myself.
We continued to eat and talk until it was time for bed. I helped mom wash the dishes and then I walked upstairs to my room. My duffel bag was on my bed so I zipped it up and put it on the floor besides the door. I changed into my p'jays and hoped into bed. I pulled the duvet over my body and almost instantly I fell asleep dreaming about the trip tomorrow.
Sorry guys this whole book is not edited but once I finish it I will go back over it and edit!
